I have a Truth Cam 46 that has been one of the best cameras that I've ever owned. I really like it and its very easy to use. My 12 yr old son just bought a Truth Cam 35 from Academy and I was shocked when we pulled the card the first week at how every animal that walked by it looked right at it, like there was a light or a noise alerting them to it. Every deer that walked by it spooked, which I wasn't at all happy with, so we pulled it and its now in the backseat of the truck until I get a chance to "test" it at home to see what the deal is and what may be spooking the deer?
Has anyone ever had this issue with a Primos Cam? I have a call into them to see if they can help.

Most of the IR cams glow red when they take a pic. Some will make a faint noise to start the IRs. Deer can hear that noise and all can see the IR lights when they glow red. Deer will get used to it after a week or so. I have owned 4 Primos 35 Truth Cams.

The Primos Truth Cam 35 does make a little noise when the shudder door opens before it takes a picture.
IMO... This noise isn't hurting a thing. No need to worry about it.

yep, the 35 has a faint clunk from the shutter. Make it take a pic of you and you can hear it pretty easily from a few feet away. I like them posing like that bc it cuts out a lot of motion blur you get with IR cams.

I have deer go up to my truthcam35 and get nice pics of the deer sticking their noses directly on the camera.
I have also had bucks us the tree it's mounted to as rub and knock the camera out of position.
For a camera around the $70 range I think it's a good camera.

FWIW, I've yet to find a camera that deer don't locate, even blackout cameras. My main criteria is that it works and lasts a cpl months at least before I have to change batteries.

I have two of them and they both work really well. The only issue I have with mine is they don't like having the memory cards swapped out while they are powered on and occasionally mine seem to freeze up when you put the card back in. Not a big deal and I just turn them off before I pull the card and then turn them back on afterwards.
Thanks, Rich

I do the same....put in the new memory card, power off the camera, and turn it back on. Also, since I use a hodge-podge of different brands of SD cards, I also format my memory card after I power the camera back on. Just push the two buttons on the right and hold them two seconds. Lastly, pay attention to battery strength. If the view window shows the batteries to be down in the 40% range, I change them out. That said, I typically get 3-4 thousand pictures per battery set.

I have an Ultra 35 I'd let you have if I hadn't already thrown it in the trash.

I had 3 of the 35's. They do make a small sound when taking a picture, but I have gotten tens of 1000's of pictures with them. They all started getting SD CARD ERRORS after a couple of years in the field. No matter what brand of SD card that I used. I even bought new SD's because I thought the others were going bad. Apparently this problem happens to a lot of the cameras. They say that using a regular camera to view the pictures corrupts the SD, and then the SD corrupts the camera or something when you put it back in the trail cam. I have been using reg cameras to check my trail pics for years and never had a problem until the beginning of this season. The 3 35's are sitting in the garage for now. I haven't had the heart to chunk them yet.
I used to used Moultrie cameras but switched to the truth cam after the Moultrie's starting using D cell batteries instead of the 6 volt rechargeable lantern style.
I now have 3 of the 35 ultra's. I was worried about having the same SD card error with them but so far so good. I like them because the are a lot smaller than the 35's and take AA batteries instead of the big D's. At Academy I bought the combo pack that came with the 20/20 mount, and SD card already with it for $99. Didn't seem like a bad deal since I bought the 35's several years ago for $99 and had to buy the mount separately for $25 and still had to buy the SD's.
I was almost completely turned off of the Primos cameras after the SD card error with the 35's but I didn't really see a comparable product without breaking the bank.
