So there's a dead cow in one of the tanks at the lease... Small tank, maybe 1/2 acre when full. The lazy arse landowner will most likely just let it rot. Do I need to worry about eating animals that have been using that tank to water? Dove, deer, pigs, turkeys? Not trying to be an arse but why don't you get it out if you are worried about it? Maybe the landowner isn't the only lazy arse.  Because it's not my cow, it's not my land, and I don't pay money to drag dead cows out of ponds. The cow is out in the middle of a shallow muddy pond and has been there a while, if you think that would be easy please let me know how to do it. Didn't say it would be easy! If it's been there a while then I wouldn't even mess with trying. But it's obviously not bothering the LO but it is bothering you. That's why I suggested you move it. Don't whine about a lazy LO when you won't make an effort to help rid yourself of a problem.

Throw some piranhas in the pond. Or fireants Or have a BBQ.  Yeah invite all the neighbors tell'em to bring the sides and you will furnish the pulled cow.

As said several times, if that cow has been in there a while then forget about getting it out. My only suggestion would to be to fashion some sort of grappling hook and hope that you can pull it out in the fewest chunks as possible.

Leave it. When other livestock use it for water and start dying off, it'll get fixed. If the landowner or rancher that purchased grazing rights doesn't care about the health of their stock (and subsequently their wallet), find a different lease.
