I was laid up in my pop-up this AM and had a nice buck under my feeder at day break. He was still there when it was light enough to get off a good shot. So I waited for the other deer to clear and I let the arrow fly about 7:20. At 8:15 I went to walk him down and had a good 50 yds of blood. I found 1/2 my arrow (the fletch end) at that point and then about 40 more yards of blood. Then nothing. Looked until about an hour ago. Could not find that deer. Very disappointed in myself mainly because I was not able to tell where the arrow entered the deer...I didn't even know it ran off with the arrow. I had the pin right on the vitals on full broadside and had what felt like a good release. I really don't know what happened this morning.

go back and look. i bet that deer is whithin 50 yards of where you last found blood.

about half of the deer that i've found have been just me walking in the right place at the right time, no blood or very little to go on

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I agree, dont give up yet! Let him sit for another hour or so just in case then go back. Start with small circles from the last blood spot found and gradually get bigger. Hope you find him!

Will do. I called a buddy and he will be going out with me later this afternoon. I'm not too hopeful though. I really scoured the place this morning. There is some tall grass but the area is mostly trees.

Go back where you last found blood and start looking in circles. Chances are that it is down just keep focused and hopefully you will find him. Good luck

More then likely you hit a rib on the back side. You should be able to find him don't give up. Do you think you could of hit high? You could of hit him in a void they will blead but live. Just a thought.

Look at the last blood drop. It will give you an idea of which way he went. The pointy end of the drop points the direction. Sounds like he was just about bleed out where the blood trail looks to end. If you look closely you will find more drops smaller and smaller and farther apart.

Look for the pointy end of the blood drop and go that direction slowly.

Also if you have a blacklight, after dark it will show blood like a neon sign.

If you have a water resource close by, check there too. A wounded deer will just about always head towards water.
