So when you say "native" does that mean its a low fence hunt?

no. High Fence. No introduced genetics. I just let the native deer live and grow to see what would happen.

Interesting. If he's truly ~ 180. I just don't see it though if he's on a true hill country body. Typically the body of a hill country buck doesn't get over 150-160#. Hope you get him shot so we don't have to guess. Great deer regardless!

Yeah I really don't see him being in the 180s, but he is one fine specimen. Hopefully someone gets him and maybe proves us wrong.

You may be right....but it helps that I have his last years sheds. He scored 160+ with no kickers or drops. If he has the same rack as last year but with the extra points, he would be at least 175. With all the rain we have had, i think he will go 180.

Thanks. I have never sold any hunts on my property. I have given some hunts away to different charity functions but mostly just family hunt. If the deer show any potential at all, we don't shoot them. I was really surprised to see a buck of this caliber on my place. Growing up, we never let the bucks get more than 8 points... It's really amazing what potential the deer have especially if you let them get old and have a wet year.
I am faced with the same dilemma that a lot of land owners have....try to make money on the land or sell it. It can be a money pit.

If it's just family why not let em breed another year or two. That deer doesn't look to be over 5.

He is at least 8. I have sheds and pictures going back to 2008 when he was a 12 point and scored 155. And, I doubt he would be that big at age 2. He is probably 9 or 10.
