in San Angelo, Henry's has good beef enchiladas, others in my group ranted about the CFS.

Out on the north side towards Sterling City, in Carlsbad (on 87) there is a little mom & pop cafe called "The Other Place" that has good burgers & fried catfish, home fries (MMMmmm, like my mom used to make) very reasonably priced, good food.

the last few times I have tried Zentner's Daughter, they about priced me out of going back, but their garlic steaks are very good (but pricey).

In Llano, Coopers BBQ is legendary. However Coopers is frequntly jammed with folks standing in line outside waiting for meat to come off the Pit... and a short distance up the street going west DO NOT STOP AND THINK ABOUT GOING INTO THE HUNGRY HUNTER, EVEN TO GO TO THE BATHROOM MUCH LESS EAT THERE...BTDT ....and the wife had to hit every bathroom back to Burnet with the Green Apple Quick Turkey Trots and had to sit on a towel to make sure she didn't leak in between stops.
Just Sayin .... read tripadvisor and some of the other On Line restaurant guides.

Twin Mountains Steak House is great. Get the "scraps". Doesn't look like much from the outside, but great steaks.

Peasant Village. Some of the best food I've had in the area.

Stop in Christoval at the Hidalgo's on 277. south of town about 15 miles. Tiny place but good food. If you get into town go to Fuente's cafe downtown.

For a steak house you gotta go to Western Sky. On the North side of town near the fair grounds.

You are SOL on Italian except maybe for Joe's they are descent.

Western Sky Steakhouse was really good. Thanks for the lead. On the way home, stopped in Austin and waited an hour and a half at Franklin's BBQ. Best BBQ ever.
