I'm planning to get a bipod or shooting sticks before gun season. What do you like? recommendations? I'm amazed at how much some of them cost!

I'll be using it in a pop-up blind. Just want a more steady rest than offhand... probably sitting smile

Homemade pair of shooting sticks that were made using 2 fiberglass electric fence poles, a piece of 3/8" plastic water hose.

Those homemade sticks are slick! I'll have to make 'em. I really like that I can make the height I want!

I've got a shooting stick and ground blind that I bought before last season and never used either of them.

How do you guys adjust the height of your shooting stick so that it's the right height when you're ready to shoot? I can see where you might adjust it for a shot in a general area, but what if a deer walks out much closer or farther away? Rather than having to fumble with the stick adjustments, do you just try to adjust your body position to compensate?

You push them forward or pull them towards you, that effectively lowers the point of aim. To raise the POA you can roll the sticks to one side or one leg like a monopod and that raises the POA. I prefer sticks to a bipod because if my quarry comes from an odd angle, I can just drop the sticks and shoot offhand instead of dragging bipod legs through the grass and such. Those things snag on everything.

I highly recommend the Trigger Stick as it adjusts all legs with just a pull of the trigger. I have the tripod and it is awesome.

It's been about a year and a half and there hasn't been any mold yet. I even left them in tree for about a month and half because one day I had to use both hands to drag a dead hog out of the brush. Still using them. I worry putting a hole through it might weaken the bamboo. The string I have on them now works just fine so I really don't see a need to make any changes.

Being able to lean them forward/back is why I don't want a tripod. I was temped by a monopod, but I'd rather have the additional stability of a bipod.

I have a monopod made using a wood V set on top of one of the fiberglass electric poles. It is set up for my chair, I cut the pole to the correct height and attached the wood V, then wrapped with foam tape. And then wrapped all of it with camo duct tape.

I thought that I would hate a tripod, until I bit the bullet and got a BogPod RLD3. I have always been a bipod proponent. I originally bought the BP for my spotting scope while spot and stalk hunting, but now it is my preferred shooting stick for most hunting applications. The range in height both through leg adjustment and spreading the legs is amazing!!! And the extra leg makes a tremendous difference in the stability of the rest.

Trigger Sticks. I have both 2 leg and 3. If your sitting in ground blind 3 is better. I set one up with my crossbow on it just last week. Worked great
