Rifle hunting can be perfectly safe on a small track of land elevate yourself enough were your shooting at a good angle and know what is around you on the other property and there is nothing to worry about.

We have a neighbor whose one acre butts up against our 300 and the other neighbors 1000. He has a feeder behind his house and always kills some good deer. I guess if your on the right one acre that's plenty. I dream about places like this! A diamond in the rough! The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! What heaven would be like! etc. etc. etc. Judging by posts here most people would consider that dude on the one acre a pain in the arse shooting their deer though. I wouldn't want to be that guy. Judging by most of the posts on this forum this old man would be enemy number one. Too many people think they own these deer and expound on all of the dangers of a bullet crossing a fence line 4 or 5 times a year after it passes through an animal. Whatever happened to being neighborly. Why would anyone begrudge a man killing a few deer in his back yard . I didn't post on the thread involving the property line road but in that situation I think it would be best to work something out together and both parties take turns maintaining the road. I don't know if it's just me or if people who own land in the country are bringing their distrust of city neighbors into the rural areas.

Okay, I'm a poor boy from the south Am I missing something? buying a 150 acres for hunting is way beyond my budget. You could use the same amount of money and just book trophy hunts.

Perhaps you're missing the obviously outlined point: There's way, way too many deer. That's why he begs people to hunt out there. You shake a bucket of corn and there are 40 deer begging for it 5 minutes later.
Given that you don't know the "facts", it's surprising you would suggest I'm ignoring them. 85% of properties in Texas are under 1k acres Lots of good hunting on tiny ranches, I just left a 185 acre ranch in Bandera and saw 5 whitetail and 7 sika just driving a loop road. Property is hunted and the neighbors hunt I sold a tiny 53 acre place earlier this year off 41 close to the YO thst was part of an old subdivision and they have seen whitetail, axis, turkey and pigs just about every time out Not all small places are shot up And guys, a track is something an animal makes on the ground It's a tract of land

I have 60 acre now and wish I had more. But like said above it depends on the location. If it were just one person hunting it and it was in the right spot 10-15 acres would be my min.

Depends on the area
Ive seen 2000 acres places produce nothing but 140 max every few years
I know a guy who has maybe 50-60 acres and that's all he hunts. It's in the perfect spot bordering a larger trac. About 10 years ago I went inside his house and he showed me 3, 150-160 class deer that came off of it.
I know another guy who owns 100 of family land. He takes a bruiser every year. Again, it's in a creek bottom that borders a larger trac
Heck my neighbor has shown me of a feel pics of deer that will go 140-150 and he's only got 10 acres but to my knowledge, nobody hunts around us. He feeds year round and doesn't hunt
Just depends

This is only the second time I have felt compelled to comment on a subject since becoming a member: IMO the guy that owns 10 acres that borders a 1,000 acres is better off than the guy that owns a 1,000 surrounded by 10 acre tracts (low fence of course). I fully understand that we do not own the deer, but it is a horrible situation to manage deer that are killed the instant they jump the fence. I have 9 different properties that border mine, and all of them have "hunters" that reap the rewards of our hard work. I have tried to make my peace with it, but it is very hard to do.
Thank you...thank you very much

I hunt on about 130 acres of family land and to me that is just part of the sport of hunting. Part of the game. It's the reason I spend time and money to make my land more attractive to the deer than theirs. I know no matter what I do some of the deer that frequent my land that will be taken by my neighbors. I am fine with that though. Good for them. It actually makes me feel good knowing that the deer I helped feed and grow is now feeding their families. I am not saying you're wrong for feeling that way because I get where you're coming from. I just see it differently.

What about their hardwork of attracting deer to their properties? If my neighbors are shooting deer I d ask them what they're doing right You don't own the deer , so don't feel bad

That is because of the ree la state agent tag. smh.....those tags are ridiculous. the worst is when they get out of the truck and run up to you and hand you their card...its like "I don't need your card, I know who you are, I have your phone number"

If by "hard work" you mean putting a feeder 50 yards from my fence with a blind facing straight at it then we have a vastly different opinion on what work is.
Thank you...thank you very much

You can high fence individual sides of a place.
We had to do that near Fredericksburg. Buddy had 400 acres and some dude owned a long, narrow, 60 acres strip that bordered 1 of his sides. Split it up into 5 12-acre "ranchitos", put little cabins on them and sold them.
Sure enough, each and every one of them put up feeders and shot their legal limit (or as many as they could) the first year.
We put up a high fence simply bordering those properties. Guy across the road did too.
They now have 12 acre ranchitos in a box completely devoid of wild life.

It all depends where it is. I have 28 acres of heavily wooded rough terrain. That has lots of game passing through because its right on the edge of 200 acre pasture and the start of the woods that runs for miles. There is a tank on my neighbors place where animals drink and then come back into my place. He doesn't hunt or let anyone hunt his place so thats a bonus.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Given that you don't know the "facts", it's surprising you would suggest I'm ignoring them. I didn't miss a thing. U missed the fact that I stated. It may work that way for a while, but if all 85 acre parcels manage like your buddy, the good hunting won't last. What part about 5 people filling their tags on an average of 85 acres in a lot of parcels that size will decimate a herd over time don't u understand?

I can already tell how you tried to resolve the situation lol... I never have problems with neighbors till they try to be all high and mighty... I can be a great neighbor but I'd be your worst nightmare after you came and tried to tell me how things need to be on my property... You just thought I was close to the fen line before lol... Don't sweat the small stuff there are plenty of deer to go around... And life is to short to be such a cranky person
