I have owned my place for 3 years and I swear this is the first year that we have all gotten chigger bites. The little suckers are out in force this year.
they don't bother with my ankles and prefer to go straight for my waistband

I was absolutely destroyed the dove opener. Have probably 400 bites.
Discovered Windex stops the itching.

I haven't seen a chigger all year and I'm usually a magnet since I'm out on the place so much Come to think of it, haven't seen a tick anywhere but on the dogs in 2 years and those have been relatively few. Fleas have been a PITA though Them fleas almost got my butt kicked out of the house!!

Chiggers come and go up in north Texas where I am. I would say that it hasn't been a bad year at all.

I'm South of Bowie. No chiggers or ticks for years and they used to be bad. Not even any ticks on deer. When the heat and drought hit, they just went away.

put granulated sulfur in a sock, tie off the top, and dust your boots, britches, whatever. Will keep them off of you

I don't know about "seeing" them, but I've sure felt them on occasion!

I don't know about "seeing" them, but I've sure felt them on occasion! You'd have to have bionic vision to see them. Yes, they're thick this year.

I haven't been bitten by a chigger in years. Had them all over after opening day. I even sprayed ankles with deet and still got bit.

Last year on a hunt at Laguna Atascosa, I got absolutely violated by them. It took an entire week to stop itching! I thought since it was pretty cool weather I'd be OK. Boy was I wrong. Between them, and the news about Lone Star ticks causing meat allergies, I won't set foot in the field without bug dope on.

Yup, bug dope like crazy (50%-100% DEET) and I've started spraying my pants legs with permethricin. I hope I'm spelling that right. No problems this year for me.

I've lived in Texas for more than 30 years but only recently found the first tick of me after working at the lease.

Ask your doctor for a prescription for lidocane ointment. It worked for me when nothing else would.

I got totally destroyed by chiggers a couple months ago in Oklahoma. Of all things, Listerine blue mouthwash on a rag worked awesome.

Plenty of chiggers in central Texas. My grandma used Crisco and salt on the chigger bites we'd get when I was little. Still use it if I get a bad bunch of bites.
