We were actually talking about putting in a island but didn't go through with it, And were debating on buckwheat or millet right now.

Study it the first year on your water levels and where the birds want to be. Then invest in a good pit blind. The dirt that you will remove sinking your pit blind will form your island. We have done this many times and it works great. Just make sure your pits are 3"-4" above your overflow.

Not if, but when you get water in your pit you can simply pump them out with a decent bilge pump in 30 minutes are so.

Game on!

Looks good, is that your equipment or are you having some one dig it for you?

Make the island horseshoe shaped just big enough to pull your boat up in an close a camo gate and have it covered, walking and sitting area all around for different wind directions.

Heard of guys that built a temp island using pontoons and could pull their bass boat up in the middle and hunt from all sides. Had it on Lake Barkley in Kentucky. I think they had special permission from USACOE and would take it out before season started using two bass boats to pull it.

Will that sand hold water for an extended period of time?
