I'd never seen one before, but while hunting in Africa recently, my PH had an LED bar on the front grille of his Landcruiser. It was about 2' long and had a double row of LED bulbs. He said the outfitter bought 8 of the bars here in Texas and put one on each of his hunting trucks.
Talk about light up the night! It was much brighter than his bright headlights, and he said it didn't pull all that much power because the lights were LEDs. The LED bar would seem to me to be a great aid to gutting a deer after dark or lighting up a sounder of pigs in a wheat field. And they seem much more practical than the roof-mounted halogens that use so much power.
Anyone use a LED grille bar? How do you like it? Plusses and minuses? I'm thinking of getting a smaller version of one for my UTV.

Panther89 has them. I bought a 31" bar and 2-2.5" lights. I installed the bar so far. I will post pics shortly

Thanks for the pics, NewJeep. Your light bar really lights up the road. It'll help avoid collisions with deer, but you gotta be careful not to blind oncoming drivers, I'm guessing. Do you have any idea how much current the light bar draws? I presume it takes a separate circuit and has its own fuse. What's the amp rating on the fuse?

The ranch I was on the owner put one on his Mule. He added a larger battery to handle the light bar and all the extras he had also. It was really bright and he now has one on his Ranger. Guy I hunt with in West Texas put one on his Mule and it was really bright and even more so. He looked like a space ship coming across the West Texas terrain. I will have to check to see how much extra they draw on current and extra fuse.

LED bars don't draw much extra. They are the way to go just be careful with what you buy, there's a ton of brand out there and some are Chinese junk.

Almost all if not all of them are at least partially made in China. I think even Rigid $$ is assembled with some china made parts from what I understand.

Not all of them.
Some may be but have the right parts and warranty to where they would be worth the price. You can get bars for less than half of rigid with a lifetime warranty. Most of the LED bars are junk and don't have that warranty.
Rigid isn't the best brand either, it's just the most famous.

What's a good brand that isn't Chinese junk? I want to get some for my suburban but there are so many different ones at so many different prices.

I picked mine up from the guy on the forum. Super fast shipping and good solid quality.
Panther89 is what he goes by. I have installed and used Rigid before in offroad racing and I wouldn't hesitate buying the ones Panther sells for a 1/3rd the price.
The light bar I got makes a huge difference on the roads I travel. I drive from Boerne to Evant every other week on 281 and a lot of back roads around Kendall, Kerr and Comal county. I know anyone that drives deer infested roads like that needs a good set of lights.
I am about to order another light bar to build a magnetic light that will attach to the front of my 5th wheel for when I am bay fishing and can get my camper close like at Goose Island. Think I might go with the 40" or bigger for that.

Ive got a 10" and a 20" on the front of my truck and a 10" on the rear bumper for closing gates or backing up to trailers or some jack wagon that wants to bright light me from behind. Works great dont remeber the brand but got mine from a guy at the TTH a couple years ago. never had a problem.
