I'm getting prepped up for bow season here in East TX in 5 weeks and have a couple questions. I'm hunting with a crossbow, so I have the option of using a box blind and/or a tree stand. I like the ability to be able to move around in a box blind, but worry that it would be best to be in a tree stand as I expect it to be warm.

So, Box blind or Tree stand on bow season? Also, what do you guys wear to keep cool but yet hidden?

At my lease, I have a box blind for gun season with 2 shooting lanes!!! On one of the lanes I have a feeder set up on on the other I dump corn on the ground!!! For bow season, I have 2 ladder stands set up about 15yds from feeder and where I dump corn!!!

What is your choice of clothing in the ladder stands?

Have you taken your crossbow to the blind to see how much room you will have to move and for limb clearance on the windows? I could not hunt out of my blinds that are 4x6 very well with my crossbow. Tree stands would be better range of movement but I would need a good rest. I am going to use a ground blind that is 5x5 in size so I can have better shot angles with a good rest. Shooting off handed with a crossbow for me really limits my shooting distance down to close range.

I just wear very light weight camo. If I have a long walk sometimes I will take my shirt off while walking in so it's not covered in sweat when I get in the stand. I also don't get to the stand in the evening until later than I would when it's cool. Most movement in early season is right at sun up and sun down.
Don't forget your thermacell either.

Camo short sleeve shirts and shorts. I wear a mesh leafy suit over my clothes.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I hunt strictly in the nude.

I am one with nature.

It is not pretty.

If your going to use a ground blind you need to get it out now and brush it in really good for it not to be a big distraction to any mature deer around it.

I'm in the leaf suit category with a very lightweight nylon shirt and a pair of skivvies. My leaf suit is mesh so it does double duty for camo and mosquitoes.

i buy a new one at Wally world every year....there only like 50 bucks but they are great...just don't hold up to long term use that well.

Given the choice, I will hunt a tree stand before a ground blind. Mainly because I like the added visibility and being able to hear better. Just like being in the open. I am limited in West Texas though.

I hunt in a long sleeve, light weight t-shirt and pants.
