truthfully any grain 308 will work. my son has shot rams with a 22 mag, 223 and 243 with no problems. rams are tough animals but mainly tough to fully expire. if you're shooting a 308 there won't be an issue at all.

As stated already, almost any 308 bullet will do. I'd use whatever shoots well out of your gun.

Just shake the feed bucket and cut his throat when he gets in range.. C'mon man....I know rams aren't usually the wiliest animals, but take that negative crap elsewhere.

Rams can take a good bit of time to expire. A 208 can certainly do it. I would recommend a 150 or 165 or whatever caliber your rifle shoots best in a hunting load. You shouldn't need a 180 gr or a special and expensive round for it unless your looking at taking one in the hill country and long range shots. It's normal to see one now and then that will stand there when its hit and just absorb round after round. It doesn't mean its not a good shot in the vitals, they just do that and can really absorb a lot of energy sometimes.

I've killed a load of rams...I've shot arrows through both lungs, and it took 20-30 mins for them to expire. they're incredibly tough animals.

if you can get close enough your 1911 would work I am sure. my 6 year old killed one rather quickly with a 22mag. if you're in a blind and close enough or whatever I'd say go for it!!!

Just shake the feed bucket and cut his throat when he gets in range.. I thought that was kinda funny actually. I've heard of guides that do that with their crossbow and handgun hunters. Lure the Ram into a field with a chum bucket and whammo. No sport or ethics whatsoever. Makes no sense to me why someone would pay so much $$$ just for that photo opp.

Does that mean we should never deal with any because a few are bad. Come on guys stop throwing stones. 308 with 150 grain Hornady ammo.... Well placed shot. Hope you have a great experience. Keep us posted.

I'm surprised at being ridiculed for my prefered method of hunting livestock. I have dispatched many a Wiley goat with my trusty Case knife.
