Seemed like we had good numbers in NTX until about a week ago. A bit worried about the lack thereof and more weather expected next week..... Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots.... What's everyone else seeing?

Was up the road picking up chicken feed and two separate flocks flew over one being whitewings.

Working on the lease last weekend I saw fewer doves than I have been. Figured somebody is cutting fields around us. Hope they move back.

They should be in the fields so they will be very thirsty about 6:30 pm on Sept 1.

I'm seeing less in the mornings....probably all spread out on the fresh grain fields....but I still see a good number grouping up in the evenings in the same places that they were 2 or 3 weeks ago.

The best hunting sometimes occurs AFTER opening day.

Normally have hundreds on my property in the suburbs right now. Nothing. I think the abnormal weather is keeping them north for a bit longer I guess.

They'll have to come through at some point....just need to be hunting when that happens!

birds of toady are are local resident birds. Either you got em or you don't come opening day. You won't see a Kansas bird for quite a while.

Been seeing bigger numbers down here this week. More flocks flying to the grain feilds during mid afternoon.

LO in Waller where I always hunt first week or so said his live oaks and gravel driveway are full of whitewings.
Pretty sure that is one of many roosting areas there. Ive yet to have a bad hunt there In 10 yrs during the first few days. Mourning dove have thinned out the past few years, In a limit of birds 1 to 3 may be mourners, but thats fine with me, rather have them bigger breasted birds anyways
