Hello all,

Can anyone make any recommendations for a vet to use in the dfw area that it's gun dog friendly, has reasonable prices on general care and provides emergency services if needed? I've been doing alot of review reading on some of the local clinicians and have not really found anyone that just stands out as being amazing. I'd like to hear some recommendations and first hand reviews

Ed Aycock in Lewisville comes to mind immediately. If you need a veterinary surgeon specialist, Bob Radasch at DVSC is a hunter and gundog owner.

The Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners requires ALL practicing veterinarians to provide emergency service.

Dr. Keith Taylor at Rockwall County Animal Hospital. He worked for Ed Aycock in his younger years and is a duck hunter. He knows gun dogs.

x2. Used them when I lived in Highland Village and am not disappointed with anyone in the office.

When you say Gun dog friendly, I am assuming that you mean many vets look down on you for hunting. Dr. Goucher in Royce City is a Vet that I have used many times in the past. I am not a duck hunter myself, and I don't know if he is a duck hunter, but I do know he is a hunter(deer), and would not look down his nose at you. He is a very good Vet.

Sounds like you've got some strong leads.
My vet retired, and I'm not happy with her replacement.
I hope you have better luck than I have had so far in finding a new vet.

You too huh? I have a couple of good replacement vets but they are more expensive than the one that just retired.

To the O.P., if you don't mind a little drive north, my wifes Uncle is a vet in Van Alstyne, TX. Henry Bing. Good country vet & not too expensive.

That's who I use. He and his crew are great. As long as we're close, they're my "go to" folks.

None better in my opinion...he has 2 additional vets that work for him in that office and they are both good too. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them.

I use the vet here in Justin. Have zero complaints and issues with him. He performed cruciate surgery on my duck dog this last year, and has done great so far with all our pets.

Very conservative on price and on running tests. But, thorough in his diagnoses.

Another vote for Dr. Taylor in Rockwall. Have known him for years, and he knows gun dogs.

Ended up going to TriCounty near Leonard, pretty happy overall so far. Fair prices, Seemed to actually care and not make recommendations that where not needed.

I just added this to my Watched Topics. I'm moving to The Colony from CA next month.

I use them as well and mainly deal with Jeff Garner. Most of the vets there hunt and know hunting dogs. I've got no complaints. I'm a big believer in using a "country" vet over a "city" vet.

In addition to Ed Aycock in Lewisville, I can recommend Wade Johnson in Little Elm. Both would be convenient to The Colony.

Gonna give Dr Wade Johnson a chance.
I tried North Colony Animal Clinic with my other dog a few weeks ago, but they dont take walk-ins and I need to take my dog NOW. I remember I tagged this thread, so I looked at suggestions here.
