I have about a case of AA hulls. I would be interested in selling them or paying for someone to reload them.

What do you want for them? PM me and maybe we can work something out. I'll be working in McKinney next week.

If you're near New Braunfels you're welcome to use my MEC. PM me and we can set it up

I wish I had reloading capability. I love shooting my 28ga guns at doves! Shells are too expensive to use on a routine basis.

Academy has them for the best price. Last I bought AA, which is about all you can find reasonably priced, I paid $9.99. I wind up buying them because I just don't have the time to reload very often.

What is the reloading price average versus the $90 a case I paid the other day?

Let me know if you decide to sell your hulls. Depending on price, I might be interested.

I love my 28 as well and actually just started reloading. I found an older MEC versa-mec reloader at an auction and made home with it for $60.00. If your not in a hurry you can snag a reloader fairly cheap. It may not save me a ton of money but I think reloading will be a fun little hobby.

$90 an case is a great deal. What brand?

Wal, how is your 28ga Ruger treating you? Do you use it exclusively during dove season?

A couple weeks ago at Gamaliel Shooting Supply I paid $92.99 for a case of Winchester AA shells. When I couple that with the $20.00 rebate that makes them $72.99, which you can't beat.

Rogers has Winchester AA's for $95. $20 rebate through the end of the month makes it $7.50 a box.

I reload Double As for about $4 per box.

So at that cost plust $220-$250 for a press you break even after the first 20-25 flats, then it is half price from there on out. That would take me a decade to get there.

Bigal33. I got Estate 3/4 oz 7.5 shot at around $9 a box. I used to have every reloading, reloader, re-this and re-that. It used to save money. Now reloading is an expensive hobby. The only way i see it making sense is for prepping. As in prepper for doomsday type stuff.

Oh and i absolutely adore my red label. This year i am gling to shoot woodroes and mallards it. It is deadly on doves in thst magic 35 yard zone.

I think I have shot almost 5 flats this summer, but they were spread out between the 28, 20 and 12. I have enjoyed the 28 so much I guess I could cut the 12 out till duck season.

I started reloading when I bought my first 28 gauge because, you know, factory loads are so dang high.
Now I load 12, 20, 28 and .410. I save money and frankly I enjoy doing it.
I shoot a lot of clays so it saves a lot of time too, trying to find the right shell at the right price.

And there's a few loads I do that are "special".
Like the 7/8 oz, no. 6 shot, 28 gauge, 1350 fps, shells I load. I love 'em for pheasant.

Reeltexan would you share any details on that load? I am very interested in it. Thanks.

I recently acquired a Ruger Red Label in 28, along with a MEC sizemaster reloader, 1000 hulls, and 2000 wads. Also with the deal were 78 boxes of factory AA's and Remington STS, so I will not need to reload for a while, but man is it a dream to shoot. I will be using it for doves this year, and may even give the ducks a try with it.

Here ya go:

Hodgdon Lil'Gun powder / 209 primer / BP SG28 II wads / 23 grains powder (21 Mec bushing) / 9,600 PSI

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I checked the fps, it came up 1225 (it's been a while since I looked at it.)
The wad is by Ballistic Products only <<
Alliant 2400 powder could possibly work for this load.

..and as I said, for pheasants, I load no. 6 copper plated shot.
Low recoil, lots of velocity, dead birds.
