Went out to my place in NE Fannin County this morning -- had to test out some full-body dekes that I got from the in-laws for X-Mas.

Slowest day I've had in the 3.5 years I've owned the place. Saw a total of 10 birds, and one was a coot and another a muskovie! Only saw one group -- three mallard. The rest of the birds were singles that didn't even take a second look at my spread (or my lake, for that matter). I thought I might have a good morning, as we had been seeing a decent number of birds on the lake. Weather was mild with a very light breeze and some fog. The wind started picking up about 9:00am. and was gale-force by the time I left at 10:15am.

At least someone did well. The hunters on a slough about a half mile from my place were shooting like crazy -- 40 minutes before LST. I must have heard 50 shots as I sat looking at my watch waiting for legal.

Wow. They are definitely changing up around there evidently. That wind was brutal this morning.

You've got some great spots for those full bodies once the ducks get back on your tank.

Was the slough southwest of you? Thats where Ken and I were hearing most shots coming from.

Muskovie. LOL Did it have a red head?

What about the game warden? Bet he could have gotten there in 40 minutes. Those idiots need to be busted. Probably shooting a roost too. They need to have their wallets lightened up a bit.

I know what you're thinkin'.....and you're wrong!
