You own a property. Part is LF and part is HF. There is a gate between the two. The gate is left open and some deer from the LF go through the gate and are now in the HF. Is there anything wrong with this?

Well if, as you said, you own both the LF and the HF side then I guess it would be up to you.

But since they came from a LF would it be ethical for a LF purest to harvest them without feeling guilty?

since they are now in a high fence they should be tame just round them up and set them free! Heck, just lasso them and tie them to a post. Isn't that how high fence hunting is done. I guess you have some new genetics, for free! I wouldn't feel guilty either way.

Hypothetical answer: In the words of our illustrious former Secretary of State: "What difference does it make?" .....I guess the HF deer would be thinking "There goes the neighborhood". .....Maybe you send in the National Guard and DPS to round 'em up and send 'em back.

But since they came from a LF would it be ethical for a LF purest to harvest them without feeling guilty? Ethics has nothing to do with it, desire does... A LF purist would not shoot them in a HF. Many herds in HF ranches are native deer that were once LF deer or related to LF deer right outside the fence. The fence is where their issue is, not the deer in it

They have associated with HF deer now and are educated. Just stand at the fence and whistle. They'll come running...

What if the situation is reversed? HF native untagged deer gets onto your LF lease, would you shoot it? Or, what if a non-native buck with extraordinary genetics escapes the HF? Would you feel guilty for shooting it? Would you feel even more guilty if you let it walk and those non-native genetics got passed on into the local herd? BTW - I'm seeing the benefits of some of those escaped non-native genetics right now. And no, I don't feel guilty. I just smile every time I see a 1.5 year old 6 point with a drop tine.

I call a tie.....If it gets onto a LF property it has an opportunity to just keep on going! If it wants to hang around it's their choice.
