And also how is the hunting on the river? Use to hunt up that way several years long years ago.

I'm a little west of Capps Corner. Turkey's have shown back up this year after being gone for 5. My cameras are out. Haven't checked them in over a month.

I have only one feeder running now with no camera. Appears to just be hogs/turkey hitting the corn. I scared a big hog out of the brush next to it the other evening seeing if there was any corn on the ground. Deer are out and about eating all the green stuff. We are finally putting hog panels up on half our feeders so hope to see more deer now.
Lots of quail! For now...

My lease is near the lake and I checked cameras last week, after only having the feeder up for the week, I had good traffic. The big buck from last year still hanging around. He is 10 pt probaby 5 yr old. I am super excited but hoping there are some more mature bucks coming. No hogs or turkey.

I'm just over the Indian Bridge and into Oklahoma, probably a mile or 2 from you across the river. We are seeing some really good deer this year. We have a few 10 pointers and one or 2 mature shooters. The craziest thing is all of the grasshoppers in that area for the past few years - its Biblical! They ate up most of my Spring soybean plots.

Latest pics from last, saw 2 turkeys. Hadn't seen turkey on my lease. Hopefully will start seeing more. My stock tank is now a mud tank.

Okay guys, for about 4 weeks straight we have had pics of pretty decent mature bucks every morning and evening. About 2 weeks ago they disappeared from the feeders. Not just one feeder but all the bucks that was coming to every feeder on the place. Now all we have is 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 year old bucks and does. Anyone else having this problem? I was gonna blame the heat we have been having but there aren't any night time pics of mature bucks either. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Thanks in advance.

Could be mesquite beans, persimmons, acorns or another mast crop if you have any of those. Bucks are starting to break up the bachelor groups a bit here. Somedays they are all together and other days they are separate.

See this every year, while I am no biologist, I believe the bucks are starting to stake out primary territory. Of course during the rut this doesn't matter. This and what STX said, some good supplemental food source is coming into prime.

I'm getting ready to go pull my cards later this weekend. I always have a few younger bucks and alot of doe on cam during the summer, but don't start seeing mature bucks until mid to late August.

Alright thanks for the info guys. I've always hunted South and West so kind of new to the northern deer patterns. On my places south and west, the mature ones usually would show up around late August and would be spotted pretty often.

Checked Cams this past weekend. The mature bucks we were seeing still hasn't been seen. But had a couple decent 3.5 year old bucks on the cams. A few in velvet and a few that had them sharpened up already. Cant help but to get a little excited. Sharpened horns mean September 27th is getting closer!

I'm just South of Bowie. I'll be filling feeders and setting up cams this weekend. I don't believe I've seen a deer in 3 months. But that's not real unusual until I get a chance to sit still and watch. Tractors, pickups and chain saws don't exactly draw deer.

Awesome bucks! That 10 looks like one I've had hitting my feeders in August. Are you near Nocona Lake?

We've finally had some decent rains and some oaks on my place have acorns. It might be a good year.
