anything i should be aware of reloading wise?
I am thinking either the honorary level bullet or the barn lever bullet...

Think they are known for having thin case mouths, but just comes with the territory of loading a 3030

Nothing to it, as simple and inexpensive as it gets.

I started reloading with the 30-30, factory crimp die from Lee makes for getting the crimp easy. reminds me I need to work up a load for the Remington 788 in 30-30

A roll crimp can be pretty tricky.

you can do probably 90% of your game hunting
with a 30/30 and not be at any disadvantage.
piles of animals have been killed with it
since the first one was sold.
you can do well with any of the bullets from sierra,
speer, hornady, etc.
i've used h4198, w748, aa2520, h4985 with good results.
i have some h-lever, but i've not had a chance
to try it. 748 has done as good as any so far.

(changed where i fat-fingered aa2520 and wrote 2120
for some unknown reason)

It is with the Lee Loader I started reloading with. "Calibrated" tap with the hammer, too hard a tap and too much roll crimp, too lite a tap and need to tap it again. hammer

Hornady FTX 160 grain bullets, 35 grains of Hodgdon Leverevolution powder, neck sized with a Lee collet die, and crimped with a Lee Factory crimp, shoot sub MOA groups in my Marlin 336.

I have a used henry 30-30 if you want to buy it. Any way, if I were you, I would only reload the hornady "leverevolution" or whatever its called. That turns your 30-30 into a long range gun. At 200 yards my henry did just under 1 inch which is awesome for a 30-30 with iron sights.

They sell the powder and the bullets almost everywhere so it is not a problem to reload.

Found a few pounds of lever revolution powder today smile. Got some of the hornady bullets lever bullets. Just need a gun and some dies

Is the lee set the way to go? Normally I use hornady dies.

x2 (exactly) - the Lee Factory Crimp is the bomb! - shoots good with H4895 powder too, just not as fast as LVR power.
Took a buck at 200yrds with full confidence - he dropped on the spot!

the video on there said you control the crimp pressure with the amount of pressure you put on the stroke....how do you keep it consistent?

Just get the Lee factory crimp die. You will get tired of buying Fruit of the Looms when you set primers off by seating them with the lee loader. Something about seating a primer with a hammer strikes me as a bad idea, don't you think?

And I like the Remington 150grn Core Locked bullets. I have never had a bullet failure with a Core Locked in anything I have hunted with.

Shouldn't that only be used if it's brass you fired?

What kind of velocity are you getting?

I think I got everything I need. Brass, dies, bullets, powder, and a scoped gun. Need to make some test loads and get to a range
