Hey Guys We needed a better shooting bench rest at the deer lease - in place of the big wire spool we were using - which was anything but steady... So my son Zale and I built one for left and right handed shooters out of pressure treated lumber - it's now heavy and steady... I am worried about wasps building nests up under it - anybody know if the "paint the underside blue" to keep wasp away is effective... Here it is: front top is 33'x33' - total front to back 52" - back arm rest 11" wide - height 33" - seat 42" wide Made a little short in height for the younger shooters.... Total about $60-$70 in lumber and a can of wasp spray - LOL [img][/img]

give that a good coat of Thompson's water seal, it will make a difference in the long haul, even though its treated, all the treated stuff I have bought is pretty bad, when it dry's out it splits ect.

You might want to set up some cinder blocks and store it upside down when not in use. Might not prevent wasp nests, but you'll sure be able to spot them a lot easier if they build a nest in some of those spaces.

Great job on getting the young involved. Great looking bench.

You got a router in the garage? May be a good idea to knock the corners off but otherwise that's one good looking bench sir!

Don't know about the "painting it blue" trick, but you could always just close up all those open spaces...won't be able to build much if there are no placesto
