Anyone know of a Veterinarian that has Rattlesnake Vaccine in the DFW or McKinney area?

Call Dr Geoff Bratton at 214-361-2834. He's near SMU and should have it. If he doesn't, he can point you in the right direction. Three years ago, we were selling the vax for $25. Don't know the price now.....

Another possible source is Dr Scott Mayes in Frisco. You'll have to look his number up.

You could plan your trip so that you are here on Aug 2 and you can attend Wayne's snake avoidance training. In my opinion, you need both the shot and the training.

Even all of the mobile vets in my area carry it now so it shouldn't be too hard to find. I've been paying $25 for it.
There is one that shows up at our local Walgreens once a month and I always hit them when I need it.

We should all get together, order them online & split em up, can get em for like $12 each but I think you have to buy 25.

Have y'all had a dog get bit after you used the vaccine? I had some bad luck when it first came out.

Has anyone actually checked this year to see if the normal places they get them still have them this year? I just searched & can't find any online? Drs. Foster & Smith and Jeffers pet sold them last year and so did LCS but none of them have them right now??

I have. Dog got bit on a Saturday on the front foot. Foot and leg swelled up pretty bad but vet did not have to administer antivenin. Vet gave him some antibiotics for the bite and Rimadyl for pain and he was good to go. Swelling was gone in two days and he hunted the next weekend. No tissue damage whatsoever. Kind of funny because the vet I used wasn't my normal vet because of where I was and he hadn't heard much about the vaccine (this was about 9 years ago). After looking at the dog on the followup two days later he said "wow, I've read about the vaccine but haven't been recommending it... now I will".

I have had 2 dogs bit after using the vaccine and both bit on head and head swelled a lot but went down fast and dog was hunting within a week. I also have a friend whose dog was bit after using the vaccine. Dog died b4 he could get him to vet. Happened September and the dog was real hot.

I get my dog a shot every August from Animal Hospital of Frisco, 8911 Coit Rd - 972-712-1755. I call in advance to set appt to be sure they have it.
