Hey guys, I have a buddies family that has several half sections in unit 11 around Parson, KS that I may have an opportunity to hunt. It's about 7 hrs from my place in Dallas. Just wanted to throw it out there to see what the masses say about Whitetail hunting in unit 11 around Parsons?

Did you get a WT permit for this year?
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Unfortunately not and they are all sold out. This is really for next year and beyond. There will be a large investment in time and $$$.

There are not any deer in KS!
J/K of course.
I havent hunted that area however, I wouldnt hesitate to jump on a spot there. I hunt way west of that area but those KS bucks will make your heart beat. Go scout it when time permits over the next several months and that will let you know whether or not to put in for a tag next year.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

I hunt West of there and know a couple of guys that hunt within about 15 miles of Parsons. It is worth hunting if you have ever wanted to hunt the Midwest. What $$$ would you need to invest besides the tags and getting there?

I hunt 11 and 12(north of you in 11), of course I can't speak for the exact property you are hunting but that area absolutely has the potential for bucks as big as anywhere in ks. My family, including myself, has cattle and farm land in ks and my brother used to live in parsons and now lives in independence(west of parsons). I would get up there and check it out for sure!

I hunt between Independence and Parsons on my family land. The hunting is terrible in all of SE Kansas. Best buck we have got is around 95" with average in the 80" range. Save you time and just hunt Texas, lol!

B-Man,
I grew up just west of Parsons and have hunted all over that area. I also worked for some of the biggest land owners in the area. There are very nice deer in the area, but poaching is a concern if the landowner doesn't live close by. If you want an unbiased opinion on the area, look up Tworod on here. He went up there with me for 3 or 4 years.

So it's could be poached, might be hunted out, might be good. Sounds like hunting to me in any state. You got almost a year before the draw, and roughly 100% chance of drawing if you put in, so why not go check it out. I hunt in Texas mostly but don't pass a up a chance to hunt in other states if they present themselves. BTW these are unit 11 bucks:
