Just wondering, how serious is a scorpion sting? We seen a few in the deer stands (Live Oak County) and just in case I get stung next time what action do I need to take?

Hurt like heck the few times I have been stung. It effects others differently. Get you some Demon WP and spray the edges/corners of your deer stands. It will work for weeks or months after the intial spraying. You can buy it at hardware, some lumber and feed stores. Get a 1 gallon or larger pump up sprayer and apply it per directions on the packet. A gallon covers a lot of area.

About like a wasp sting.......if you're allergic then it could be really bad. I'm not allergic but I always keep Benadryl close by for things like this.

Call 911 and set the immediate area on fire.
You don't have to do it in that order, though.

We do the room size aerosol bug bombs about a week or so before season and during May/June feeder fills. Make sure windows are closed tight, open the door, put in on the floor and set it off. Shut the door and go on about business. Looks like fog in the blind. Very seldom see ANY live crawly critters. They come 3 in a box at most grocery stores, wally worlds, & feed stores.

Small sticky mice pads work well also... don't stomp them it will let loose a pheromone that will attract more... as far as the sting you don't have much to worry about with texas scorpions.... just gona hurt a lot... now since it is a toxin there can be allergic reactions so if you or someone who has been stung see abnormal heartbeat, breathing, or fever etc... prolly need to go to the er just incase..

Wish I had the pic to upload to show you. Buddy got stung a month ago checking a camera. It swelled up the size of a baseball. Hurt like hell for 3 days he said and it took that long for the swelling to go down. The Demon WP works the best by far. Spray around your cameras too! It is like $9.99 at TSC or you can get it for about 50% less at Amazon.com. We spray the bottom foot of the cabin every month. Never had a scorpion in there since. Before we found Demon WP, we would catch over 3 dozen of those devils in our sticky traps each time we were down (weekly or bi-weekly).

I have had good results with Diatomaceous Earth at our cabin. No bugs at all.

Stepping on a scorpion feels like somebody took a red hot iron and run it completely though you foot. Good thing is it doesn't hurt that long. I can't even guess how many times they got me. Once you get it you will know from then on what stung you.

Guess it depends on where they sting you. I also got stung while checking a game camera. The bugger was between the camera and the tree the camera was strapped to. Stung me on the finger right above the nail, and, prior to actually seeing the scorpion, I thought I had been stung by an ant or blister beetle and ignored the sting for a second or two. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Wasp stings are worse in my opinion but I don't have the allergy to toxins, either.

It's not that bad. I lived in an old ranch house when I was young in return for taking care of this old mans cattle. The only bad thing about the house was that it was infested with scorpions. I tried all kinds of poisons and nothing would rid the place of them. I bought a brittany jip to breed with my male dog. I think she was retarded because she got bit almost every day on the nose. She never did learn to leave them alone. When she got older I realized how dumb she really was. She never got bred and was given away before she turned 6 months old.

Unless you're allergic it's not too bad. I don't think they hurt as much as a yellow jacket but I guess it affects people differently.

Don't use DE around pets. It can cut their eyes like microscopic shards of glass.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Got stung last week while checking game cameras.
Was headed to the gym, and had tennis shoes on, and thought I would pull into the land really quick and check the cameras. Very Sandy terrain, with bushes and heavy ground cover. Went a different way then usual, and was in about thigh deep of these bushes, thick stuff.. all of a sudden, WHAM, right through the top of the mesh of my tennis shoes.. didn't know what it was, got back to the truck and left. Hurt like crazy.. That night my foot swole up, and turned bluish. (I am allergic to a lot of stings) . Wasn't a good experience. Went back a few days later curious as to what it was, pulled a bush back and there was a nest of them. We took some pictures.. ended up dousing with gas, and lighting it up...

The 'pool stuff' has been heat treated and the 'sharp edges' are gone- not effective. Use a mask and goggles when messing with the stuff.

I'd take half a dozen scorpion stings over one bumble bee sting.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

TSC sells Demon WP. Works great and doesn't coat everything including your viewing windows with a greasy film thatll fog up just before that big un slips through your hard to see anyway shooting lane....

Demon WP around our trailers seems to keep them under control.
