It's amazing what can be done with a rifle you know and have confidence in your shooting ability. Nice work little lady with the 7mm-08!

You need to get up and move on the plane to try and avoid a blood clot (I guess that's the nurse in me coming out). Especially with an injury, ie swelling and redness, you need to be careful. Just a plain ride alone can be dangerous for the threat of blood clots.

SO how is the knee today, old man? Probably does not hurt nearly as bad as the pocketbook. He may already be in route back to 'Merica.

Just curious what is the process of getting the capes back home for mounts? Also do you get to bring meat back or is it used by the local tribes? Sorry if these questions sound dumb I know nothing about these trips to Africa. Great pics and glad y'all had a blast and memories to last forever. The capes are treated here and skulls boiled and all crated to be shipped home salted and dried except the giraffe I had it tanned here to prevent any chance of hair slippage. Some of the meat is used to feed people that can't afford to eat and some is sold I believe. The crate won't get to me for 5 or 6 months. My boss went a few years ago. He had them mounted there and shipped back in a monster crate. Luckily we have a loading dock here at the hospital so he could just set it on a trailer. He said he was concerned a taxi here in the States might not make African animals look right but after looking at True Life Taxi in Granbury he said He'd use them next time. Pretty awesome experience and can't wait to go myself.

After talking to him and seeing you holding up that fox/coyote or whatever that is I really want to go there and call predators. Bet that would be the ultimate rush for someone who likes to call like me.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to shoot the hooved animals but there is something about calling a bobcat in your lap and multiply that times 100 in Africa. Some people jump out of planes, ride bulls, catch snakes, and that isn't for me but calling in a huge cat: bring it on.

Made it home finally and crashed. Going to Dr today to have leg checked as the flight did nothing good to leg. Bruising and swelling need to make sure I don't have issue with clots for sure, I had a feeling the long flight with the bruised and hurt leg and knee could be an issue.

Glad you made it without issue. Important to be aware of DVT symptoms for people that fly long hauls.

Bet that would be the ultimate rush for someone who likes to call like me. Jackal Specifically, black-backed jackal. When I was over there last July/August, they were everywhere. But every one I saw was running like it had just sat in a tub of turpentine. My impression was the jackals are a lot more skittish than our Texas coyotes. Local ranchers get after the jackals with the same zeal as we target coyotes, but I think the jackals are mostly targets of opportunity, and seldom called in with varmint calls. I think a camo'd predator hunter with a FoxPro and a .243 would have a blast! BMD, I hope your knee is OK. Sometimes hunting is a full-contact sport.

Don't massage your affected leg....you don't want a clot breaking loose. Where is it affected? Calf, behind your knee? Either way, good that you're going to get it checked out. Follow orders.

Good luck with your knee / leg. Hopefully you will just need to rest it.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
