Not really street legal when you take the doors off like that it's not like a jeep.

In most states it's legal to run with your doors off if that was an option from the factory and you must have side mirrors and a 3'' lip thats the last time i checked this was the case so you might want to check it out and make sure.

I've owned all 3 and there are pros and cons to each. I've always owned a truck as a daily driver but I didn't want to continue to abuse it out at the lease. I purchased a Ranger and while it worked remarkably well, I got tired of hauling it back and forth and it was a rather expensive purchase. I sold it in favor of a jeep and never looked back. The jeep was significantly less expensive and even more capable plus I get to drive it to and from the lease. I do miss having a bed to pile junk into when I'm in my jeep but between a jeep and a ranger, I'll take the jeep any day. I use my truck still in the pre and post season to haul necessities out to the lease...

The thrill is in the hunt, but maximized by success. You define success.

I have tried them all. Ranger/mule type vehicles are (in my opinion) under powered, loud and ruff riding. Not to mention a good one will run you 8-10 G's or more. I have looked extensively into the polaris razor. which is by far the smoothest ride, man those things are legit..... But, they don't allow you to travel with even a small payload. And if you shoot something you have to lift the animal about 3-4 feet in the air to get it in the bed... I have had a 4 cylinder TJ for about 12 years. it is tuff as nails turns on a dime and will go straight up a mountain, while running over trees. get you a 5k TJ put a 3 inch pro comp lift on it and some 35 inch tires. You can't go wrong.

For the record, I still want a Razor 900 really really bad. I wanna go fast...

My jeep was awesome. The worst part was shifting. It was hard to drink, shift , hold a gun, glass.
I've never owned a sxs but the few I have I wasn't overly impressed. I'm sure the rangers are nice

If its just you get a 4wheeler... if you plan on hauling a lot get a UV

Trucks and jeeps are nice but have to many limits in rough hunting areas...

Oh you can go wrong doing that for sure. Jeeps aren't built to handle 35s without alot of work

I have 33's but I have always wished it had 35s. sad thing is since I drive it only on the ranch and a little around town AND i have a discount tire warrantee which covers any flats I am perpetually stuck with the 33s.. I have had the same set for all 12 years. all five have been replaced for free but they are still covered.

not many tires that were purchased 12 years ago look that good....

All the more reason to stay 33s.

35s mean gears, axles, brakes, steering, suspension, fenders, and possibly wheels all may need changed

The XJ (Cherokee) is what I feel a perfect hunting Vehicle. Since it has a unibody frame and same drive line as the Wrangler, it is rugged yet lighter.

Keeps your gear dry and will go anywhere. Mine is a work in progress.
Soon to have 33's, winch, and my FLIR setup.

get the best of both worlds - get a Kubota 1100 ATV with the full cab - has AC/Heat/defrost/hydrolic bed/stereo/windshield wipers/ etc. - Air tight so zero dust inside - the cab is as nice as a truck but you are in a beast of an ATV - I love mine

I hunted 2100 of flat land with lots of senderos in Dimmitt county for a few years and we got around just fine on a 1980 CJ-5 and ATV's. The ranch hands that fed did so regularly in old F150's. 650 acres in Val Verde was a different story. The trails were so rocky and rough that nothin but Mules and 4 wheelers would get around. There was an old land rover in a barn that fell apart and lived out its years in a shed. The LR is a perfectly capable 4x4 but couldn't handle that terrain. I've hunted lease acreage in east Texas was too loamy and the roads were too tight and wooded for anything but Sxs or ATV's.

Moral to the story is what works best is probably going to depend in the terrain, topography, layout and accessibility. Logic and experience tells me a UTV is imminently the most scaleable and versatile choice.

I have had all three. Now 95% of the time I use my Kubota in the pasture.

Bahahahahha... I was thinking the same thing. I've wheeled a lot and never had water top the tires, guess I'm just not as hardcore since I dotn have a 50" LED and snorkel.

Going into water that deep is a good way to screw stuff up. I definitely wouldn't try to get it over the hood, the snorkel is best used as a intake not a scuba diving device.

I'll let you have all of those parks you want lol. I went to TORR one time and I'll never be back. I didn't build my jeep to play in the mud, that's what 4 wheelers and utvs are for
