That's interesting. And blowing air temp in the 30's is way cooler than a window unit will cool.
Not going to cool a larger area with that, but if you have a small well insulated room with a freezer it might work out good.

We built one with a shop vac one time. Pour ice in the bucket and reverse the flow. Worked pretty dang well. Thanks for sharing

Do that with a yeti and it'll last all summer without adding ice.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Do that with a yeti and it'll last all summer without adding ice. Yeah... Cutting holes in a Yeti will surely increase its efficiency.

The swivel buckets for dove hunting usually come with fitted Styrofoam inserts. They work awesome for this. I just put the insert into an old bucket and create them. We store gallon milk jugs in the freezer at the cabin and bring one with us to the box blind. Put the frozen gallon milk jug into the bucket and plug in the fan. They keep an un-insulated box blind cool for at least 3 hours and almost 4 hours. With insulated blinds, they will last over 6 hours easy (closer to 8 hours).
If using ice without it being in plastic, it will not last as long and gets the insulated blind too cold sometimes.
To me the trick is to get a fan that is quiet enough. It seems about 2/5's of the fans we buy are too loud. The disposable coolers that Omaha steaks come in work great to make these air conditioners too.
I am working on creating on that will hold 2 frozen gallon jugs. They make early season scouting much more enjoyable!

All of you have become wimps to the heat.
Anyone know where I can find a good 12-volt fan and styrofoam cooler?

Made one last weekend. Surprised how good it worked. Already had the battery (small 12 volt) and the fan. Out of pocket less than $10. Bag of crushed ice lasted over 2 hours.Block ice should last a lot longer. Got some in the freeze right now.
