I can call in bobcats but not coyotes

Never had any luck with either animals with the Foxpro or the FlexTone mimic.

With mouth calls I can bring in the cats nearly every time but never see a coyote. Does not matter if it is daytime or nighttime.

Should I be using a lower pitched call any preferred calls for coyotes?

Coyotes may be educated if the area you are hunting gets called alot. There could be alot of factors of why you arnt calling in coyotes. Try pup in distress instead of just playing rabbit or bird sounds.

Coyotes around me will hardly come to a call... to much food to compete with

I don't know why, but I have called bob cats and raccoons. That is all Ive ever had come in. We have a bunch of yotes but they never come to a call.

They will come you just got to figure out what they want to hear. Pay attention to the wind and the way you approach your stands.

I have both come to my Foxpro. As stated above, try some different calls. Coyotes are quick learners...

These yotes do not get called much.
I'll give the pup distress call a try.

Any success with the feather on a stick as a decoy?

remember this time of year they are very territorial and work well to challenge barks as well as yote distress noises.

Always play the wind for yotes especially in thick areas. I'd bet they are coming but getting down wind of you and bugging out before you ever know they are there. Just my .02

Yeah I don't think some kind of decoy will hurt u any.

Fawns are hitting the ground right now... that's what I would be wanting to eat if I was a yote..

Right now yotes are slow because of the hot weather they dont need to get out much and eat like they do when it's cold .I really never hunt them during the summer because it for the most part is a wast of time.

+1 I have also noticed with it being summer, everything is greener and more dense. In the winter I could see through 150yrds into the brush because all the leaves were gone, and grass was down. Now, I can't see 5 feet into it. Same with fields, grass knee high or above and the yotes can walk through it without you knowing they are there. It's been really hard calling in coons lately, they are even closer to the ground.

Find a water hole in the middle of some thick woods... they will come sure enough

I'm with txvarminter. I'd go kinda easy on the challenge. With my Foxpro I'd hit the pup in distress and the woodpecker distress. Don't forget the wind and try to get some open ground between you and the heavy cover. gotta slip in easy like or you'll get busted for sure...... But all that seems odd advise given you can get the cats.....?

You using any cover scent? Skunk on a cotton ball (hangin' in a bush or tree) works pretty good in the wind.

Thinkin' maybe I'd trade you problems for awhile, it's the cats I can't get in.

So I am curious! What kind of numbers are we taling about here?
How long have you been calling?
How many stands have you made?
How many predators total have you called in?

Coyotes are much more cautious then bobcats! They have a much better nose as well!

Make sure you are covering all the basics!
Scent! Movement! Concealed set up!
Coyotes also are a lot more keen on movement! When you think you are sitting still reduce your movement even more!

Most of all have some patiences!
It takes time but if you take care of business it will happen!

Ok. I think the stars aligned today. Called in 4 today. My son was the trigger man. Used a fawn call on the fox pro and they came. A running. Two came in but he could not get a shot.
One came in and he took a shot at 150 yards but missed.
The nasty bugger below came in behind us as we were getting ready to go pick up the call after his miss.
I grabbed to gun and caught him on the move at about 75 yards.
We also had a doe come in to the call and it was cool watching her go nuts and blowing like crazy because of the fawn call. Was a good morning.

This thing was nasty....
