We are going to purchase one of the two this weekend. We are torn between the convenience of having the extra seat for the $1,000 more or the smaller wheel base and less of a possibility of scraping and getting high centered. Our use will mainly be hunting. But some trail riding and cruising around the neighborhood.

Anyone with a crew have problems getting around varying terrain and the maneuverability of it?

I have a 2007 Ranger XP and my buddy has a 2011 Ranger Crew. We hunt in Pecos County west of Ft. Stockton on a large ranch. Both do great in the rough terrain we have and maneuver fine. Lot of rocks in places that will high center either one if you are not watching. We spend about 75% of the time off the road going cross country to locate deer. The extra seat is nice but the dust that comes with it is not.

We've got an 09 crew that we drive on all sorts of terrain. The only problems we have with clearance from wheel base issues is with short ramps on a trailer. Other than that we have no real issues and being able to load up more people is a BIG plus. I'd go with the crew all day long over the single

Yup, dust magnets for sure.
We got the crew cab as we are always hauling kids and friends.

We went with the 800 crew. Bought a 2" lift and 28" tires for it. Love it so far. We get the lift and tires next week

The lift is a good idea on the crew, and a full skid plate.
We have had 7 limbs come through the floor due to the supporting tubes that are right behind the front tires. They catch limbs that get kicked up by the tires and run them through the floor right up into your legs. We have repaired the floor several times, luckily no injuries yet. Bad design.

I have an 800 crew and love it. my kids love riding in the back seat as well. I added bigger tires and a small lift (nothing crazy). Everyone I know with a single seat now wants to crew. There are ways to fix the dust problems they have. I have never had an issue once I resolved that problem.

Any tips here? Other than paving all of the roads on the ranch.

We have a 600 with a high seat in the bed. it doesn't take away that much from the bed capacity (it will still hold 2 deer).

Riding in the high seat is quieter and more comfortable than being in the cab. The only thing you have to watch for is branches when driving in wooded areas. I've been thinking of getting some bicycle flags for the front bumper so I'll know if my passengers are about to get whacked.

It's another option but would probably add most of that $1000 difference back to the unit. The rear passengers are exposed to the elements. It can get real cold up there in the winter.
