Hey all,
I just bought some used tree stands, in pretty good shape. I used ladder stands last year but I like the bigger platforms that you can get with a tree stand.
My question is this: how long do you leave your tree stand hanging? I'm probably going to set it up as a semi-permanent spot. The manufacturer documentation says no longer than 2 weeks but that seems more like CYA to me. What do you guys do?
Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

I leave ours up year around and put new straps on them annually whether they need them or not.

New straps as needed. But you notice that if you are in them enough. And I like to be in them.

Year round. We audit the straps on work weekend each year and come back the following weekend to adjust and replace rotten straps. This is an absolute must and without exception at our place. We just got back today and did a round of new straps on several. We usually get around three years out of a good set of straps. We also never use the cheap ones the ladder stands come with

I have one stand that I hunt out of that has been up since before I was born. I turn 41 this year. The strap is a chain with a turnbuckle. That stand has since become part of the tree.
