Just curious. I have a Gorilla-King Kong and love it. I dont have it higher than 8.5 feet and I do not use a harness. I know I probably should but Im not that high. Do you guys use harnesses? and if so how high are you?

20 feet high. Do not use one on my stand. But if i hunt my brothers or someone elses treestand i will use one. The Harness i have came with Summit stand and is not comfortable at all. Need to get one of those safety harness vests. And have not fallen out of a tree.

Why would you use on someone elses stand? Because you didnt put it up?

I use one. I try to be 15-20 ft up. I don't go up without one.

I like the 15-20' range as well, sometimes up a little higher depending on what I'm needing to see over. I have never worn one, but decided to go get one of the vest style harnesses this year. I've had one incident (put a climber on a tree that was slightly too big, pop-rivot came out of the safety lock for the cable and in slow motion saw the cable come out and b/c the tree was too big, I couldn't get enough angle on the bottom to reattach the cable),but a harness wasn't what I needed. I was up in the tree needing to get down, the hang from the rail, drop and roll technique from 20' up.....even though my feet were danglin' around 13' it still hurt like hell. I didn't think that could happen, but it did, better safe than sorry.

I bought a HSS vest last year and will not get in a tree without it.. I feal safer when I am in the tree and dont think about what would happen if I fall like I did before.. There are alot of people who die every year from tree stand accidents.. Best hunting investment I have made in a while..

No. Never used one but my brother looked at one the other day and when he complained about the high price the salesman asked him how much he was willing to spend to go home safely to his wife. I told my brother to climb the tree and jump head first.

i just hung my first hanging stand last week and shot a buck out of it two days ago(first hunt in it) and it is about 20 ft up in the biggest baddest tree around but the n winds blow like crazy there so i went out and bought the gorrila on untill i can get a hss. i will say it makes me feel sooo much safer and to me it is well worth the money...

I like you. Mine is only like 9' so i don't use one.

12 ft is the highest i have been and have not used one. But i thought i should of had one. Better be safe than sorry.

I trust myself enough to not use one. I go up 20 to 25ft in my climber.

No, one has never saved me, but I wouldnt hunt without it.

I hunt mostly from 18'-20', I would hate to fall out at that height.

I hunt at 17' in a ladder type stand and also have a tree hanger at about 23'. I have never hunted on the side of a tree and not worn a harness of some sort. I actually like mine and use it to improve my shot and stability by leaning against it when I draw when the right shot presents itself.
I guess I am being overly cautious but I hunt alot and with doing so you increase your chances of having an accident, and if I fell out of a tree and broke my neck my wife would be quite perturbed!
I have on occassion drifted off to sleep and caught myself just in time, so thanks anyway and y'all have fun, but I am keeping my harness on.

early this November I was hunting in a ladder stand and the wind was blowing hard....sure wished I had a harness....will be buying one if Santa doesnt bring one
