So the stain on my fence is about 3 years old and fading pretty good. Is it realy necessary to power wash prior to re-staining?

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Don't power wash it...they get that nasty fuzzy look.

Cody's right (that feels weird to say grin ) take a pump sprayer and do 50/50 water and bleach. Spray and wash off and let get good and dry and then use same pump sprayer and stain it. Just make sure you don't overspray onto a car or something of value wink

Gray-away is a great product and will make your fence look like new again.

I would power wash each rough sawn fence I ever stained (couple hundred). if they were nasty grey and had mold I would bleach them too.

then we would spray them with an airless.

there is an art to pressure washing wood. you can do it right and it will save you time and money and the end result will be a great finished product or you can do it wrong and it will tear up your wood and leave you with a nasty mess that will never look right again.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

This is correct, I have been in the fence staining business for 13 years. Usually 2:1 water to bleach is sufficient. I'm not a huge fan of Baker's Gray Away though.

You don't have to be the fastest or the best, you just have to be willing!

So do or do not power wash ? Me and a neighbor are about to do ours and my fence is about one year old right now, just want it to look better.
