Work? You think I'm working today? Pfft. I'm smoking all day for our Christmas party tomorrow night. I've got 14 pounds of brisket, a 10 pound pork butt, two chickens and several pounds of sausage. My fat [censored] is drinking beer and barbecuing all day.

A quick note on fire safety - if you light your massive, oversized charcoal chimney that holds 10 fulls pounds of charcoal, set your lighter down on the shelf of the fire box, get ADD and walk away, the lighter will, in point of fact, heat to the point of exploding, catch fire and shoot halfway across the patio.   Additional note - baking soda is an excellent fire extinguisher.

While I was not concerned enough to not take a picture, I was sufficiently alarmed to forget to put the camera on video mode. My bad.

Sadly, I was dead sober at the time of the exploding light incident. I was standing at the sink facing the back door, washing a big pan I had used to rub the brisket in when I saw something whoosh past the window out of the top of my field of vision. Intrigued, I went to investigate and found the little conflagration on the concrete.
I still haven't cracked my first beer yet and maybe that's the problem. Maybe I'm too sober to barbecue.
