My son and I are having a big debate over the legality of carrying concealed in a bank. I have always believed it was legal and he says it is not. I have been looking for a clear answer and can not find it. Can someone that really knows point me in the right direction. Thanks

Unless they have a 30.06 sign out....you can even carry an AK slung over your shoulder.

Completely legal. The big ones are no carrying on federal property, and no carrying if they have a 30.06 or 51% sign legally displayed.

Completely legal, I would not bank with a company that prohibited it.

If you carry by accident, sometimes on purpose in a carry or non-carry zone, shouldn't the fact you have a firearm be undetectable?

Banks are good to go unless they are posted.

100% legal, unless posted. I carry every time I go to the bank. My head is on a swivel, and always looking over my shoulder and aware of my surroundings.

We just had this discussion at the bank the other day. I was told that they really dont like the idea of ppl carrying in the bank but wont go so far as to put a sign up prohibiting it.
One of the loan originators told me a guy came in to fill out an app and when he stood up his carry pistol fell out of his pants leg. She made the bank president tell him he was denied for the loan.

My bank in MN put up the signs, so I asked my banker if they where going stop having security guards when money is delivered to the bank?, she said of course not! I then explained to her that they were essentially telling every small business owner that banked with them that to go without security for when they deposited their receipts. The signs were down within days.

About the only time I carry is when I go to the bank, I would think it would be high risk place for a robbery or hold up...

I would think it would be fine to tote it in as long as you concealed it in your ski mask...

I carry in mine. The McKinney branch has a 30.06 sign. The Anna branch does not. Rather drive to Anna anyway.

I had this discussion with the security chief of my bank here in wise county , told her I saw the little sign with a pistol and red slash thru it. She says they don't want anyone to carry in the bank, I sez if you don't have proper signage up on the front door, I am legal. She sez, the are weighing the option of putting up the 30.06 sign. I sez, you do and I will take my money else ware and try and get some more to go with me.
I check every time we go to the bank, no signs yet, been a year since our 'discussion'. I do not do business with moron's and / or Obama voter's period.

Re: concealed carry----Per code, unlawful carry is at places of education, polling, courts, racetracks, secure airport areas, and alcoholic retail stores. Also, the 30.06 sign and some written notifications can ban concealed carry on private premises. A owner or an agent of a property can legally tell you to leave his property if he "knows" you have a concealed weapon.

This may sound odd but if one needs to be licensed to conceal carry, then it seems to me there ought to be a rather large umbrella on where that concealed carry can be exercised. When I first got my permit I carried but then having to leave the gun in the car here and there, depending on where I was going- that got to be an annoyance.

When the new Republican Governor and state reps get to Austin in January, gun laws are gonna change. Per newspaper reports no less than 7 bills are just waiting for votes. One bill makes all gun carry legal and without any license or fees, thus restoring true 2nd Amendment Rights to Texas. No telling what will eventually get passed, but certainly more relaxation of open and concealed carry is on the way.

True The most tricky one for fisherman is that you can't carry on Corp Lake. So lakes in Metroplex like Lewisiville is a no go. I had one POS Game Warden on Lewisville ask me if I was carrying while on Lewisville , I have been stopped a few times in the past on Texoma or East Texas lakes and never questioned by any game warden.
