I am only about 100-200 rounds into the reloading world and having a blast at it. I bought a beginner kit and now I was just given a second press an older Rock Chucker II press from the Girlfriends dad. He found it in one of his rent house clean outs. It is in real good shape except it is missing the handle.

Where would the good folks of the THF refer someone to replacing the handle. I searched the web for while with no luck from Midway or Natchez. The are out of stock and do not reference the RCII very often. It looks way different than the newer RCBS supreme IV presses.

check out inline fabrication. He makes mods for all kinds of presses. If he makes a roller hand for it that would be my choice.

put a picture of the press up, I might have a handle that will work for it.

Call RCBS, tell them the old handle has a bicycle grip and it hurts your wrist. They will send you a new handle with a ball handle. If that fails, and if I can find it, you can have my old handle, they replaced it as above back when I got my press. They also sent me all sorts of stuff to rebuild the press.

I will call RCBS for sure. I did not realize they were that spot on.

I appreciate all the feedback.

Forget the handle. I'll give you a 12 pack of Lonestar for it as is.

if all industries had customer service like some of these manufacturers it would be a much better world. RCBS sent a part to me for an old RockChucker (wasn't called a RockChucker then) that was built in 1962. Great company-

I sent RCBS an email and got a response in about an hour. They said a new one is $15.99 plus S&H. Which is not bad at all for a free press.

Walter
The press is not threaded where the handle goes in. It is slick inside. The handle is threaded on the last inch and it is belled just above the threads. The tension from the nut on the bottom is what holds it on there.

The Dillon works the same way. What size is the hole. I will measure the handle when I get home.

Just checked the handle I have and the shank were it slides in is .547 inches in diameter measured with my mic. So if that will fit into the hole on the RCBS you are welcome to it...

It measures .60 on the top side. Do you think the .05 will wiggle or erode any?

I am not sure about that. But I am sure you could wrap a piece of duck tape around it or something...

Mr. Walter

I appreciate your offer and measuring your extra handle. I think I am going to go ahead order the new one from RCBS to be sure. Chalet gave me a few hundred rounds of LC 556 he had laying around and I just finished FL sizing and decapping a couple of hundred on my little LEE press. My elbow wants me to get the RCII working good I think.

LC is tuff stuff compared to Hornady brass.

I emailed them once about buying collets for a case trimmer I was GIVEN (and I told them that) and they eventually sent me an entire set FREE. Like $60-75 (or more) worth off stuff if bought on eBay.

Pass the gravy.

Don't email, call them. You left a paper trail. Those guys will give you the handle is my bet. They completely rebuilt my old rock chucker to the point that my buddy wanted it back. For free.
