Thinking of putting one of these together any input or suggestions for a different 6mm cartridge

The 6 mm-284 will use more powder and perform better in a longer barrel. Imo it is hard to beat the 6 mm or 243 in the 244" bore. The Creedmoor is pretty efficient and has become very popular these days in the prs as well as 6 4G Lapua.

i shoot a straight 243 and there is nothing wrong with it. But If I were going to redo it before I had all the componets I might try 6x46 lapua or GAP's new 6mm whatever they call it.

It really helps to know what the purpose of the rifle is for. Hunting, competition, F-open, etc? A 6CM will feed out of a DBM much better than a 284 case will if you plan on competing with the rifle. So anyone answering your question could be telling you info that doesn't apply to your real application.

Looking for a long distance varmit rifle, a 6br or a dasher from what I understand isn't suitable for my application.

Just recently I was reading an article on the 6-284. The author had ordered a 6.5-284, but the gun builder chambered it in 6mm instead. So, the guy tested the rifle as received, and after testing his conclusion was that the 6-284 offered nothing more than the 6MM Remington already provided.

Ok. Getting closer. What's long distance- 300 yards, 600 yards, 1000 yards? My definition of long range is 600+. Some shooters is 200 or more. I don't mind helping, but the guidance is a little short on your specifics. How are you wanting to feed the rifle? internal box mag, DBM, etc? The 284 case has many issues feeding from a DBM with it's rebated rim. You have to tune the magazine to the rifle to get it to feed correctly, and even then can have issues. The CM case is similar to a simple 308 case, and is easy to get to feed well. So, you kind of have to start from the beginning on how you want the rifle set up and plan around the caliber.

300-600 is range , I have a 6.5x 284 but really liking ballistics of the two I have listed. Action is probably gonna be Remington with drop bottom mag as I have two laying around. Also chad what is your experience with 240 wby mag ?

6mm Creedmoor will do everything you want it to, including feed from a detachable box magazine.

With the 240 Wby, brass will be a pain in your ---. There is nothing wrong with the BR or Dasher for varmint work. The BR will be turn key, but the Dasher will require case forming. It's not a huge undertaking but it's something to consider. The 6CM, 6XC, 6x47 Lapua are all super close, and will all require minimal work. The 6XC is good to go out of the box. 6CM and 6x47 just require a pass through the sizing die and you're done. None of those three, nor the BR or Dasher are going to set any speed records (however the last 3 all deliver respectable velocities). That said, I think you'll really love the tiny little groups they will produce. If you're looking for the blazing speed then the 6mm/06 and 6mm/284 will be fine. Those two are nearly identical in terms of capacity. There's also no dust on the 243 Win or 6mm Remington in the right barrel length and with lighter bullets. I consider barrels a consumable, but just remember that the hotter you run'em, the more consumable they're going to be. smile
