Not counting gifts and inherited guns, what's the best deal that you have ever stumbled upon? I can understand if you have a secret place to get good deals.

Best trade I ever did was a Ruger American with a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x (~$500 all in) for a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull with a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x and 150 rounds of ammo (~$1500 package). Best cash deal I ever got was a Remington Sendero 7 mag with a Leupold 4.5-14x50 I gave $975 for. Always looking for the next one. grin

I've picked up quite a few deals. But my best one was a Polish WZ31 I got for $250. Only seen a few for sale. And they go from $1100-2000.

If I told you what I really paid for it, would you buy it from me at market value?

Mint condition Remmy Wingmaster for $150

Bought several LNIB Glocks for $400, some had night sights. All were generation 3 and I'm pretty sure I paid $375 for one of them

LNIB Sig 229 blued with night nights for $400

Probably a few more I've forgot about

I had guy that worked for me once inherit 4 or 5 a Ruger 1's from his grandpa. Actually he inherited about 30 rifles from his grandpa but the Rugers were the ones I was interested in.

He said he didn't hunt and had no use for them and just wanted the $$$. Said he'd take $400 a piece for the Rugers. Now they weren't in mint condition by any means but I'd said they were all avg condition.

I had to fire that guy shortly after he told me that so I felt bad making him an offer bang So close to deal of a lifetime. Wasn't meant to be.

Bought a decent Remington Wingmaster 870 for $120, put $17 worth of cleaning into it, and have a lifetime dove killer. Had some other deals, but that one is one of my favorites.

I've been fortunate from time to time. Three come to mind. (1) I picked up a pair of brand new Winchester Model 1300's for $150.00. One was the "Defender," the other was a field model. Didn't especially like the shotguns, but I figured they'd be good trading fodder, which they were. (2) I picked up a gorgeous Browning A-5 serial numbered to about 1913 at an auction a few years ago for $150 because they listed it as a Rem Model 11. (3) I picked up another auction A-5, a 1953 FN manufacture, for cheap because they thought it was a 40-46 Remmy model.

edited to add: The Winchester shotguns were Model 1300's, not 12's.

A new in box Remington Model 788 in .308 about 10 years ago at an older guys garage sale. Asked him if he had any knives or guns and he said he had a rifle he'd bought in the early 80's and he never used it and didn't need it.

Brought it out and said he'd take 75.00 for it. Told him I'd give him 150.00 for it and he was surprised. Just couldn't take advantage of him like that. It was worth more but 150.00 was all I could afford.

About 20 years ago I was talking with a guy who's brother had passed away. This gentleman said he had received a shotgun from his brothers estate but it was just an old side by side of some kind and he had no use for it. I asked to see it, and MUCH to my surprise it was a Very Nice Parker DHE ,Titanic Barrels with most of the case coloring still on it! He said if I wanted it He'd take $500.00 for it and I said "Deal"... I felt a little guilty but he was happy as could be with the deal and I happily handed over the 500 bucks! I still have the gun to this day.

Bought a Kibber 8mm on Gun Broker for $10, $25 with shipping.

Never herd of a Kibber 8mm but it was a penny auction and no one had bid on it. I actually ran myself up from $0.01 to $10.00.

When I called in to pay for it the nice young lady asked what a Kibber was. I told her that I was not sure but looked forward to getting it home.

Couple days later I went and picked up my Kibber 8mm. Turned out to be a Kimber 9mm Aegis II...

That is the best deal I have ever gotten on a gun.

My wife and I went to an estate auction years ago. While I was going to the bathroom, she bought a Mossberg 12 gauge pump shotgun for $18.00. I hunted with it for two years and traded it for a Ruger 10/22 that had a jamming problem. I cleaned it up and the problem went away. A few months later I traded that for an SKS and that for a .44 Magnum lever gun. I traded that for a Ruger model 77 Tang safety .300 Win Mag rifle. So, over a period of 2 years or so, my $18 shotgun became a $700 rifle with no money changing ands and just elbow grease, degreaser, steel wool, and Rem Oil.
