This week my cousin and I went to the lease to do some work.. We decided at night we would shoot coons off and around my feeder. We get out there at like 11:00. We were drinking and we heard lots of noise so we hit the spot light and there were like 30 pigs under my feeder. I shot one of the baby pigs with my 22 and it fell straight over. When we went to get it there a some kind of big ass worm coming out of the bullet hole. What kind of worms are they and can you still eat them. It was the nasty thing i have ever seen.

Roundworms, whipworms, stomach worms, flukes, lungworms – to name a few. Cook the meat thoroughly and you should have no problem.

Congrats on the pig. Did you see any hogs at all or just pigs?

If you were drinking Tequila, then yes, you can eat the Worms.

I sure hope you threw that pig in the ditch. Even if you cook it through, that's freekin' gross.

Ya Jethro, so I hear. Also heard stuff about eating bobcat, beaver(),coyote, etc...That's freekin' sick.

The quail guy we had out last weekend just kept raving about how young and tasty the rabbits looked. Anyway, we start shooting a few to clean. He said,"this is going to be the finest eatin' you've ever had". "Better than chukar or quail?", I asked(hadn't had rabbit since I was little). He assured me. Sunday night we get home and I fried up some rabbit. Stacey smelled it and refused. She's not picky either. I tried some and I got to tell you...not that great. Was anticipating some delish game. NOPE!! I think I'll stay away from anything except my norm from now on!!

I have seen worse, I had a friend that shot a buck a few years ago and as he cut the top skull off for the antlers there were hundreds of bot fly larve in it's skull crawling around freaked us both out. I have a pretty strong stomach but I almost threw up right there. You would not have know anything was wrong with it until opened it up and all those larve were moving around. Yuck!

same thing happened to a guy I know with an Axis Buck. He shot it in velvet and went to get it mounted. Well a couple days later the taxidermists called him to come take a look and the same things the larve were everywhere and the antlers spoiled. I have never seen that happen before so it was a first to me.

Orn,
While I enjoyed the prior posts, I figured I would chime in to speak on behalf of beaver tail...GET YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER!...I mean the real thing. LOL

I have eaten beaver tail grilled and basted with garlic-butter and it was awesome!

yeah i dunno, i hate to waste good meat, hog is good meat, but if i split him open and he's got worms, then he's buzzard meat. that just don't sound right. i've herad of it happening, but never seen it. we got a sow out of a trap the other weekend. she'd only been caught over night, but she was super super poor. bones sticking out. i dunno what was wrong with her. but she didn't look good. so we put her down and drug her off. i'll eat them all, but not when they look like that.
