New guy here. I'm sure you've never heard this request before...
I'm looking for a year-round hunting lease for the upcoming 2014/15 season, and I'm having a really difficult time finding one!

I would prefer it to be within 100 miles / 2 hour drive of Brenham, TX. Basically, if you drew a big circle with Sealy to the east, Seguin to the west, Rockdale to the north, and Victoria to the south, the area within that circle is where I'd like to focus my search.

I don't require any fancy amenities, but I'm looking for a place where the landowner allows me to keep a camper parked in a permanent, year-round campsite.

I don't have any acreage requirements, but I'd prefer the property to be at least 500 acres, low fenced. I can fill 2 spots and probably 5, depending on the size of the property. I don't have any particular lease price range I'm trying to stay within. The price I'm willing to pay will depend on the quality of the deer population.

If anyone has lease openings or knows of anyone willing to lease some good property for deer hunting, please let me know. I'm a reasponsible, safe, experienced, game management-minded hunter.

Don't have anything, but on a related note, there are some surprisingly big deer around Brenham. Have a place in Bellville in the bottoms and some studs have been taken very close to me, and have some buddies that have sent pictures of some big bucks near brenham (low fence). One scored 169.

Yes, sir, there are indeed some nice deer around Brenham! Oh how I'd love to find a good lease somewhere here in Washington County! I moved here from the D/FW area (McKinney) 4 years ago. I have a decent lease already in the Sabine River bottom in Hunt county that I've had for 12 years now that was really convenient back when I was living in McKinney, but it's a long drive from me now. So I'm looking for a secondary lease near home. So far, I've totally struck out finding a good place to hunt near the house. It seems landowners around here reserve hunting rights to family and close friends, but I haven't found anybody around willing to lease any land. Ironically, I see deer all the time walking around in the neighborhood near my house and the surrounding woods. In fact, I see WAY more deer within a few 100 yds of my house on a regular basis than I do at my lease 4.5 hrs drive time from my house! It drives me crazy! There's a certain open pasture visible from the road less than 1/4 mile from my house that I pass by on my way to and from work, and it's not uncommon to see 20-30 deer grazing in the field early in the morning and late in the evening when the weather is cool. There's about 300 acres of woods that borders my neighborhood, within walking distance of my house that I'd love to be able to hunt on. My next door neighbor contacted the landowner to see if we could hunt it. No luck, regardless of $ amount.

I live off HWY 36 north of Brenham, not far from Lake Somerville, so I could bowhunt on the Lake Somerville WMA, if I don't find anything else, but I'd rather not hunt on public access land if I don't have to.

This is true. Ted and I are very close friends and everything in this statement is very accurate.

Ted, if you find something reasonable, please keep me in mind, I would love to share deer camp with you.
