As the subject says, need a couple of axis hides tanned. Any recommendations in Houston or San Antonio? Thanks in advance!

You could ship it to North Texas Tannery in Denton. Prices are very reasonable. I think a standard hide is around $50. These guys tan over 6000 animals a year.

Halfadozen - have you used them before? If so, do you have a contact?

Texan - thanks as well. Will be in touch.

+1 They have been doing 6-8 hides a year for me for years and I highly recommend them.

Figure 6mo for completion, which may be a little slower than someone else - but the cost savings is WELL worth it, IMHO. Other shops may be able to get them done in 3-4 months, but you pay 4x the price.

Well worth it. They keep costs down by running a 2 man operation. I have personally inspected hides from whitetail, axis, mule, cats, bear, elk, moose, etc... They do a good fleshing job then take the time to tan. Pelts I saw had good pliability and hair intact. Can't wait to pick mine up in 2 months.
