Trying to decide where is the best place to store a handgun in my 2004 Ford F150 SCrew with center console.

What places have you used?

I lean towards mounting a holster on the inside wall of the console. The only problem with that would be having to open the console lid quickly to retrieve the gun if needed.

A buddy of mine clips his in the storage tray that runs along the base of the door and he puts a really small collapsable ice chest over it to conceal it.

My only problem with this method is that I would have to unholster the gun with my left hande...I can't even drink a beer with my useless left hand...lol

I carry Clock 26 in the over head console it's already padded on the bottom and I put a cleaning cloth along the back of the tray. Sub-compacts fit very nice.

Yeah, I heard that tip from another forum as well. That is probably what I will do for when I'm actually driving truck. I will most likely still get a automotive gun safe for the times that I can't carry, but have to leave truck unattended.

Thanks for your info, I never thought about using the flip down storage above

I keep mine in the console, but I drive a GMC and the console opens away from the driver.

After 12 years, I let my license expire. The only time I carried was while I was in the truck, and now it's legal.

I would feel more comfortable if I had mine Hwy. There are several reason for this.

Buying any weapon from a dealer is instant, no wait

If there is an incident where you have to use your weapon, the legal problems will be much easier IMO if you have the CHL

You are retricted to only carrying in your vehicle

The fees and refreshing for your CHL's decrease as the renewals pass, eventually it will be good for 10 years

Some LEO's interpret the law differently, some in Houston area are taking people in, that's just what I have heard.

I dunno, I guess what I'm trying to say, is why not just keep renewing your CHL?

I've never had to wait since letting it expire. Unless you 5 minutes a wait.

Not always the case.

It's the only place I ever carry one anyway.

There is no law in TX, forbidding me from carring a hand gun concealed in my vehicle, as long as I can legally own a firearm.

If a person wants to carry on they're person, thats fine with me. I tried it for a while, went through 6 pistols and about a dozen holsters. Never found one that was comfortable, or one that wasn't easy to spot, so I just keep one in the truck.

OK, I guess we just see this differently. And have you ever tried a pocket pistol configuration before?

I'm going with a Kel-Tec .380 loaded with Hydra-Shok and a pocket holster. It is very comfortable and I always have my last line of defense if mine, or and one around me's life is in danger. My Wife also has a mini .32 caliber pistol that she carries in her purse, or in pants if she has no purse.

Once again, to each his own...but for the cost of the CHL, why let it lapse? I let mine lapse for several years and regret it. New one is being processed, and I can't wait to get it.

This country is getting more scary by the day bro.

This may not be the place to bring up this thought to ponder, but here goes...

Can you imagine what state the country will be in if there is an attempted (or carried through) assasination of Obama, and it turns out to invlove white person/people?

I think I'll be carrying this time for certain!

All this is just MHO of course.

As a matter of fact, that's about the only way I found to be resonably comfortable. I've got a Tom Cat thats had the safety disabled and milled down, converted to DAO and has the sights complety removed, my other is a High Standard derringer in 22 mag, with the grips removed.
