I had brought up a topic of Bird Dog Challenge event in North Texas. After much research and even a 1600 mile round trip to compete in a UFTA event in Alabama I have decided to put on a UFTA event just north of McKinney TX.

If you are not familiar with UFTA visit their site http://www.ufta-online.com/. Here is the short explanation.

Timed events with only one competitor and dog in the field at a time (except dual, were there is one handler and a 2 dog team) 15 min max time to find 3 birds. Clock stops after 3rd bird and you leash your dog. You get a total of six shells, a penalty is assessed for each missed shot. You have the standard safety as well as a dog safety. A dog safety is when your dog gets in the way of a shot.

UFTA events have cash pots. The National Event this year paid out $120,000 over 8 days. Membership for event is $17.50 and $25 entry fee per field. If you want to compete in the cash payout entry is $50 per field. We will run 2 fields.

We will have to have a min of 10 dogs to put the event on in the fall.
Our event will have a min $1000 1st place prize.
I will work with All competing groups as to not step on other events in the area. If anyone would like to help with the event please email me and I can share areas we may need help in.

Outstanding! Good work. I don't think you will have any problem getting enough entries.

Should be very easy to get entries. Is it limited to ten?

Not limited to 10, just have to have 10 to run the event per UFTA. The more entries the more money, $1000 is the min.

Bodie's Dad,
I think I recall seeing at least one UFTA hat or some other clothing with UFTA on it at the Trinity Valley Vizsla/Lone Star GSP hunt tests today. up

Well, we have a field and a sponsor for the event now. We will be working with AKC and NSTRA to make sure there is no conflict is scheduling.

Please send me any questions. Should have a mailing list set up by next weekend to keep everyone updated.
