Time to catch spring sales on boots.... Any suggestions on a good pair for hunting that are comfortable and waterproof and require minimum TLC. Without knobby soles. Summer temps to mild winter (wet muddy tho) Been wearing MUCK boots but they are making me old and gonna ruin me from the knees down. Used to buy rocky boots from the factory in Nelsonville, OH 25+ years ago but guess they moved to china by now. Appreciate any tips. With links if possible. If walmart sells a decent boot, fess up and tell me about it. I won't be too proud to wear it...

Thanks, Dave

I love my Danners. They make a great variety of boots for different applications.

I got a set of them Danners on sale and I really like em. Don't think I'd ever pay what they think they are worth, though.

Danner Pronghorns are tough well made boots that fit well right out of the box. Good luck with your choice! Baker

good lord! ! don't send any money
to rocky ! ! !
15-20 years ago i'd have made a commercial
for them for free. now , you'd be better off
to make some footwear with newspaper and cardboard
and walmart sacks , like robert duvall's character
in the movie "the road"
no - wait! those homemade boots would probably
last longer than a new pair of rocky boots. . . .

myself , i've been buying those cheap-a$$
boots at academy and run 'em into the ground
and toss 'em when they puke. i think i may
have 4 or 5 new pair here in the closet
waiting their turn.

Yep. Danners all the way. Hang the expense. Shoes or boots HAVE to be comfortable.

Got a new pair of LaCrosse snake boots last year. Very comfortable, warm, and easy on and off with the zipper.
Only water proof 10 inches tho.

I don't buy boots that are not all leather. I have been brought to my knees by cactus going through the mesh portion of the boot! They are heck when they break off in there and you can't pull the boots off without causing further damage!

Dave if you can get to a Decathlon, look for Aigle or Solognac boots. They are good waterproof boots that hold up until it gets cold. They also have knobby soles. Waidmannsheil

Irish Setter makes some quality boots. I have a pair I use for cold weather and mountain (mainly elk) hunting and really like them. Quick break-in, durable and comfortable. Mine are the 800gr version of the ones in your link, and I paid almost $200 for them a couple years back.
