Anybody have any experience with SWFA scopes? Opinions?

Buy the best one you can afford.
They are excellent scopes and the absolute best bang for your buck. I have the SS 5-20 HD, have worked the heck out of it, and it still performs as new. I have hunted and shot practical long range matches with if for three years, totaling about 3000 rounds shot with the scope, and it keeps going strong. It returns to zero, tracks correctly, and the glass it terrific! I will be buying another one just like the one I already have for another rifle project. I also have a fixed 12X on a 243, and have no complaints of it, either.

I run the 3-9 FFP mil dot and like it a lot. It's a great scope for the price and functionality.

Would you spend the extra money for the FFP? Or is the difference not that big?

@Fireman-
Is the HD worth the extra money? Can you really tell that much difference in glass from the regular?

At high magnification, yes the clarity is better. Yes, get FFP if you will be shooting distance. Refer to the post I made in this section of 5X, 10X, 15X, and 20X images of the same target. At every magnification you can hold the same wind correction without having to do the math in your head to correct for magnification settings. What that means is if your wind hold for 5 mph, 90 degrees at 400 yards is .3 Mils you can hold .3 at any power.

I run it on my 300 blk out, and it is a great scope. I like it because it allows me to dial corrections quickly into the scope going between subs and super sonic rounds. The FFP part just came with it, and I only use the reticle at full magnification. But mil turrets and mil reticle in this robust scope is very nice!

My design for it will be riding on the back of a .338 WM for big critter spot and stalk. I need the 3x for surprises and 9x will get me out about as far as I wanna go to surprise big critters.

I'm thinking about putting one on a 6.5 Grendel build of mine.

Thanks to everyone for the input. Made the decision a lot easier. I can't find a bad review on these scopes. I didn't know that FFP made that much of a difference and haven't been able to get my hands on an HD to see glass difference. Thanks again
