me and my brother are going hog hunting soon at his lease in Jacksboro Tx. but lately he hasnt had any hogs in his game cam pics since the beginning of fall nor has he seen any and but a while back ago a friend of his shot 1 with his bow but he couldn't track it. is anyone familiar with hogs in jacksboro? could it be the cold weather?

Hogs come and go at my place. They don't stay in the same place for long.Could be the next day or next month before they are back in full force.Expect to have roaming Boars most anytime though.

Can't say much about the Jacksboro area, but we see them daily out here. Bring a trailer and load you up a few dozen...lol We are overrun.

I agree with cuzins8 completly. Sometimes I am over run with them, but right now there are none on my game cams. I will have them here everyday for months, then they just disappear for weeks, sometimes months. But everytime they come back there are more than before.

Doubt if it is the cold weather, as everyone else said, they come and go. I would try to focus my efforts along creek bottoms or stock tanks too. Check these ares for fresh tracks and plan accordingly.JMO

We haven't seen a hog on the game cam since we built the hog traps. Figures. I am thinking the dry weather in Junction has kept them away from our place. We haven't had any rain for months now up there. But, like everyone else says too, they do come and go. Who knows.

dont hogs settle in the creek bottoms during the summer to keep the insects off? theres hog tracks everywhere at our lease but no sign of them. the last time i saw hogs on my brothers trail cam on 10/25. another thing is is that theyve been on mainly 1 cam and we have a total of 4 cams. this could be a hog or a cow down below. http://spieknobdeercamp.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2879

when we hunted down south we always saw them, especially around body's of water. but in the hill country they were seen a lot less. but everytime we set up the hog traps with guts from the game we harvested, they would fill up with hogs. but they can disappear for long periods of time though, are family place in wilson county hadn't killed or seen a hog since 1978, but in 2003 we started seeing javi's,and after we sold it my old neighbor said they became overun with hogs and even a mountain lion that basically took out all his exotics.

same as above, they are nomadic. I was having regular pics on my camera too. The pics slowed a week ago. I talked to the neighbor and found out he'd been trapping them on his place. He'd caught over 25 in a short time. I'm guessing that's why I haven't seen as many.

We have them off and on at our place in Ranger. We always take a 5 gallon bucket fill is about 2/3 with corn. Add 2 cheap berry/cherry jello pouches and some water. Mix it all together. We put it out Friday night and usually are shooting hogs Sat afternoon. If you can dig you a shallow hole and bury it.

Hogs are like mother nature version of Murphy's Law. They are everywhere when you don't want them and no where to be found when you need some target practice.
