Because you would like to wake up everyone back at camp when the trigger gets pulled on one of the larger caliber guns. I did earlier this year and before my ears quit ringing I was getting txt msgs telling me they were still in bed and weren't going to help skin it.
Thats pretty funny...
I loaned my cousin my 25-06, and i grabed my 300(still don't know why) anyway was getting out of my double bull when I looked up and 25 yards was a big skunk getting possed to let one loose on me..... I should of let him my ears rang for a day.
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

I shoot a 270 and recently changed from the 150gr to 130gr. Every deer I shot with the 150gr bullets would run. There was a small entrance and small exit, little or no blood, and they would run at least 50yrds. So, I changed to the 130gr as a test last year, and I think I had to walk 5 feet from for one of the deer I shot this past weekend. Which is the farthest yet since the change. I think the 150gr is to heavy and stayed together to well. 130gr blows a nasty exit hole and no more tracking.

My buddy lunged a doe at 40 yards, she ran another 100 yards for sure. I asked why didn't you head or neck shoot her and he said cause he didn't think of that. It wouldn't have moved an inch. On a doe Head shots rock, on a buck shoot the neck, it's just way cleaner when guttin a deer. Lings an heart shot and just plain messy. This year all 3 of my deer were neck shots, and i'll just keep shooting them like that, very easy cleaning.
