The Cowtown Hunting Retriever Club put on a nice hunting test out at Ravenna today. My second HRC test to run Dash Rip Rock in. Due to work I was only able to run Dash in today's test. I still got some things I need to work on, but he got it done today. Considering that I have been a firefighter for almost 30 years, on the hunt test grounds I saw a picture opportunity with Dash I could not pass up. I can't decide which picture I like better. The the first one or the candid accidental shot of Dash looking up at me.

I like the second one best.

Great job John and Dash! I'm a new member of Cowtown and proud of the test they put on. It was a beautiful weekend. My boy and I tried our 1st shot at seasoned...we've got a lot of training to do! No ribbons, but a great learning experience. Huck18 and his Boykin Hank kicked butt on seasoned Sat. I was marshalling seasoned and didn't get to see them run finished on sun. These games are fun and I'm getting a better duck dog all the time. Btw, I like the interaction of you and Dash in the second picture. Shows the bond we develope w/our buddies. Once again, great job!

Congrats John!! He'll have his title in no time.
Hank and I gave it all we had in Finished on Sunday and came up short due to my poor handling. No doubt in my mind a good experienced handler would have got him through it with a pass. It was the first Finished test we've ran, so I will have to do better the next time around. Before that he had passed his last 7 Senior/Seasoned test. Pass/Fail, crash and burn, it doesn't matter we had a good time and learned a lot. We will give em hell the next go round.
Good luck at the next one.

By the way. Awesome pictures, I never even saw the fire truck! The fire truck is directly behind the headquarters. Sorry to hear that. Better luck with finished next time. I was lucky with Dash on this one, but I am not running him again till the Lone Star HRC test so I got lots of time to work with him.

Good talking with you this weekend, John. See you at Lone Star. Don't forget your duck call. Thanks again for the loan. I sure thought I had a call in the truck. And thanks for the reminder. I just added an old haydels xtra loud bdr95 to my whistle lanyard. I have a pointer test to go to before Lone Star. The judges are going to wonder what in the world is that guy doing with a duck call around his neck. Or worse, that small clear haydels call looks a little like some kind of drug paraphernalia.
