Heat treated O1 Tool Steel JACKAL blade. 8.25" OAL, 4"x2"x1/8" O1 tool steel heat treated blade. Future Jackals will be made from 1/8" or 5/32" O1 tool steel. This one will have some G10 or Micarta scales bolted to it later this week - stay tuned...

Nothing secures scales better than the Corbys in my humble opinion. Gonna be a stout knife no doubt. I like it.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment. Your "opinion" is not an opinion. Your statement is a matter of fact. There is NO substitute for a mechanical connection, period. Insofar as this discussion is concerned, a bolt is a mechanical connection and one type of bolt is a Corby Bolt. Thanks again, Jeff Nothing secures scales better than the Corbys in my humble opinion. Gonna be a stout knife no doubt. I like it.

Awesome as usual Jeff; I agree about the Corby's I use them a lot, I just wish there was a local source of getting them. Sure would be nice to have a local place to buy knife supplies close by without having to order everything. I wish Aldo was closer, I buy all my steel from him.

Curious as to how you name each knife. A jackal is a lightweight, slender dog built for running long distances in search of carrion or prey.
This is a pretty heavy set, stout knife.
It it just random, or is there an attribute of the knife you assimilate with a jackal?

Thanks for looking and asking a question. How I name a knife-101. Naming anything is the by product of past experiences, appearance, whim, how something came to be, characteristics and any number of elements that escape description. In a snapshot, the Jackal is as you describe. The Jackal is also an all business, specially designed, tough, survival machine. In a larger picture, both the knife I made and the Jackal share these characteristics. thanks again, Jeff Curious as to how you name each knife. Nice!

Great knife Jeff. I Love the distressed edges along the spine. Gives it more contrast and catches the eye.

Thank you, gentlemen. Most of my design ideas come out of the Bush Monkey Think Tank (BMTT) below.
