Anyone have one and have likes and dislikes? A friend of mine is cleaning out his Safe, and giving me a good deal on his. Just need some opinions before i make it a for sure deal.

Not a bad rifle if it has the adjustable trigger. Accuracy is average to good depending on the luck of the draw. I would opt for the 22 in barrel. Does the one you are looking at have a wood or plastic stock. I am not a big fan of the tupperware plastic stocks. $200 would be top dollar for a used one.

I bought my 243 as a truck gun and love it. Very functional and VERY accurate. It's not purty, and I ain't gonna ditch my M70's for it. But it's a good value and more accurate than most of my guns that are 2x or 3x the price.

There are several threads on this forum and others on the rifle. The majority of comments have been very positive. Do a search on 24hour campfire...

I've never seen a wood stocked RAR, and it's not shown on the Ruger Homepage...something from the past, or special disc'd run from CDNN mebbe? I know several outlets hav had small runs of certain colored "digital Camo" stocks at a slight increase in price that always were more interesting to me than the plain black... but I'd be muchmore interested in a wood stocked RAR. Everything I hear is very positive about the gun.

I have in .243 and it's a great gun for the price point. It's got a decent trigger, accurate, very easy to maneuver due to short barrel and it's light weight which makes it easy to carry. The barrel did heat up fast when I sighted the gun in, but that's excepted with a sporter barrel.

Not sure about the recoil with a 30.06 because the gun is so light.

they haven't been on the market very long, and they were designed from the ground up to be an inexpensive entry-level rifle...no wood stocks available. But they have some very innovative engineering features, that make them very accurate for the price.

Ruger has just introduced a carbine variant...and a 22RF.

I have one in 270 and it kicks like a mule.

I have only handled one at the gun shop, seems very light, bet the 30-06 will not be good on the shoulder!

I'd snag it up! They're really easy to give a trigger job and to be honest, I like it better than the 700's trigger. Only thing I don't like about them is the lathe marks on the bolt but a little sanding will take care of that. Otherwise the bolt sounds like a zipper while being worked.

My nephew received an American in 30.06 for Christmas. Topped it with a redfield scope, and it is a great budget gun. Trigger is very comparable to the Savage accutrigger in my opinion.
