Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

We adopted a 2nd dog that is a female. Our other dog is a female and there was some who's the boss type stuff for about the first week or two. I made sure the new pup new I was the Alpha and now both are insuperable.

I have never had dog fights. I let them know who is the boss right away. I also feed them apart so there is never a fight for food.

Have never had a single fight with any of our current dogs. Have only witnessed two dog fights in my life, first one was two males (Brittany & a Setter) and the second one was also two males (English Pointer jumped on my 1/2 Britt 1/2 GSP) then after we split them up, my Buddies Brittany jumped on the Pointer (this was in 04/05). None were bad & only the first one brought a little blood on one of their legs. I have always heard two females are more likely to fight but have not seen it myself. Like Stink said, make sure YOU are the pack leader and always feed them apart.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Yes. Yellow lab female versus chocolate lab mix. The first fight, I got bit pretty good. I adore the yellow female and only tolerate the chocolate mix. My bite was from the mix going in after the yellow. Took 19 stitches in the arm. The beginning of the second fight, I knocked the bejesus out of the chocolate and hadnt had a problem since. Vet said two dominate females is a bad mix. That was five years ago. At the time of the bite, I was ready to take the female chocolate out behind the barn and put her down but my wife was deadset against it since she is the one that had to adopt the mix. Still dont know what started the fights, wasnt over food or attention.

I have a female Vizsla and GSP, and they are the same age. I have had the Vizsla since she was a puppy and I got the GSP about a year old. From day one never had a problem they sleep together, play together, and hunt together. My Vizsla see's the GSP as her sister of a different color. Now my wife has a male yorkie and my 2 team up and torment him. The only thing I can say is that you just can't show one more favor than the other but there always has to be dominant female.
