In a SBE2 (the new ones I guess?)...then don't bother. To my disappointment, even with the plug out it still only holds two 3.5 inch shells.

If you can't hit what you are aiming at with one shell then chances are you are not going to hit anything with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th ..... At least for me it's that way. I try to make the first one count rather than spray shot all over the place and pray for a hit.

texas I am allergic to stupidity. You can't fix Stupid, but you can occasionally head it off before it hurts someone.

Well Geezer sometimes when goose hunting you might just shoot two or three birds in a flight. So yeah having those extra shots can come in handy.

For those of us that can hit more than one bird in a volley...the mag extension is a great tool.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

couple of years ago I was hunting conservation snows in AR with a buddy. Between the 2 of us, we fire 10 times and put 35 birds on the ground. Unfortunately, there were a bunch of cripples in that bunch. Mag extension would have been nice.

I take it you have never been on a spring snow goose hunt.

Going by the title on this thread, I thought it would be a friendly reminder to remember where you put your plug when you take it out, so you don't get busted on that opening day of dove season!

Yeah I seen many people make that mistake and forget to put the plug back in. And yeah I pretty much hunt everything with my SBEII. I use other shotguns for things here and there but the SBEII is my go to and it's not heavy.

Well it would also explain it if DRWaterfowl hunts waterfowl with a 10ga or he hunts dove with a 20ga. But the way I hunt dove...set out a stool...with a cooler close by...the weight of my gun does not matter much. Now if it were pheasant and I'm busting my azz walking fields that might be another story.

With between 200 to 300 (OR MORE) snows coming down in a tornado often 5 shots are not enough. Best I have done is 3 down in one 5 shot volley. Was with an outfitter a few years ago and had a MASSIVE tornado flock come in. By the time the dust settled 16 snows had hit the ground (in best estimate of 23 shots) from 4 hunters. Ended with 88 that day.

I do agree though that 'spraying' does happen. Was watching (from a county road) a large flock circle down into a field where 6 hunters were. Suddenly all hades breaks loose. There had to have been 25 shots AND NOT A SINGLE GOOSE HIT THE DECK!

You get a couple thousand snow geese stacked up from 10-60 yards straight above you and anything is possible!

Possible, yes. Likely, no. A couple thousand geese feeding on the edge of field....YES!!
